Good Little Pickup

By Dick Bokinsky

from Tallahassee, FL

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

I just installed this thing on my lap steel guitar and it definitely delivered. I dont consider myself the most schooled person on the subject of electronics and pickups but i can tell you that this thing is hot and has good tonal range. I was impressed with the warmth. No hum. I would definitely recommend this as a solid upgrade from any factory electronics

59er

By Dave

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

Droped one of these in my MIM Strat in neck, major tone difference, beefy gives great break-up for my Tub amp at moderate volume, have to work tone nob to compensate for low end depth over SC but man punchy and chimmy!

Sounds Like Its Big Brother

By John Lumagui

from Lexington, KY

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

I wanted to retool an alder body/maple necked HSS parts strat I put together, so I chose a Little 59er to go in the neck. It's got a Pearly Gates in the bridge, and a Dimarzio 67 in the middle. I was startled at how much it sounds like the full sized 59. It's warm, touch-responsive, and takes gain beautifully. I just wish it had a touch more gain. But until SD makes a Little Pearly Gates, this will do nicely.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

Ok, so I bought an American standard Strat a couple years ago this March... so it was a 2015 American standard, came with the Custom shop Fat 50's pickups, which sound amazing clean! The neck gives you that strat chine abd bell tones, the 4th and 2nd position had a nice quack to it BUT the moment I would hit a good overdrive or distortion it gave me a very weird wobbley tone like a magnetic pull almost like a vibrato effect in certain frets and it just soubded very metallic and harsh on the rest... I assure you this is not a setup problem it's just that the fat 50's sound great with certain amps and certain gain pedals... I could defintely get away with it with a Big Muf* or A Klon Centaur... if I would put a tube screamer type circuit or a jfet, tube driver that's when my sound became awful... and with my Les Paul everything sounded fantastic, with my 200 dlls ibanez as well... then the real hurt was when my friend brought his brand new MIM Strat... sounded better than my more than double the price American Strat... I was tired of the forums to try and find a fix, my pickups were as low as they could get and the string height as high as possible , I was ready to try different pickups even though some "experts" on the forums said that that wont get rid of the problem... the guy at PitBull Audio recommended the Little 59 for the neck. I got the Duckbucker for the Middle and I already had an SSL-5 for the bridge that sounded great so i left that one alone... I definitely lost some high end sparkle, and the chimey bell like tones on the neck, but oh man. sounds amazing!!! My strat was transformed to a 59 Gibson! On the 4th position since I got a lower output pup gives you the strat quack and you regain top end sparkle. on the 2nd position I get a very nice twangy quack from the duckbucker and the ssl-5. but atill, the little 59 is my favorite! Even if if's a little darker it takes distortion like a champ, very smooth and clean. Put an eq after it to add freqs to taste.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

I swapped this into the neck position of my 60th Anniversary Fender Strat. It sounds great clean, and with a little boost, but is VERY muddy with any real distortion or gain. I like warmer pickups but this just sounds like the amp is in a cardboard box... in a crate... underwater. I've had the humbucker version before and it was incredible so I was a little surprised since the guitar has an ash body with a maple neck/fretboard. As long as you're not jamming death metal you should be good.

        Strat bridge position

        By ernest

        from Riverside, ca

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

My USA 60th anniversary strat sounds great with its neck position pickup. Was never crazy for the Stock bridge sound on strats. The little 59er in the bridge position was the answer for me personally. Such a great tone. no buzz, with a deep mid chunk that hits the soul.
