The cleanest vintage sound!

By jesus magana

from La Habra, CA

Ive had this set for about a month now and im loving them! I have a MIM Strat (2010) with a maple neck and thought SD pickups would be too bright for the maple neck and it wasnt at all. Great balance in all positions (the rw/rp middle pickup is a plus as well). Compared to the Fender 57/62 PU i had before, the SD PU have less warmth to them but still have the same character. They have that punch to them too. I had a bit of trouble finding the sweet spot but i found that 4mm on the bass side and 3mm on the treble side on all 3 pickups(while holding down all the strings on the last fret) to be the sweet spot for my Strat in my opinion(a nice sparkle and volume). Great for classic rock, funk and blues. Also if you play alot of clean tones you wont find anything better. Of course you will have hum since they are Vintage pickups (modeled by Fenders first alnico 5 pickup) so if hum is a issue for you these PU are not for you but the tone is well worth the hum IMO. Its also a great replacement for a vintage pickup that no longer works in your Strat. What else can i say. These are awesome pickups. You wont regret them if you want that classic Strat tone!

Perfection

By Josh Wiggs

from Missouri

These are simply the best Stratocaster pickups I've ever had the pleasure of finding. Not to say that the Custom Shop 69's or Texas Specials are bad but these California 50's are strong in all criteria. The bridge in particular blew me away by not being too bright. It was the perfect balance in all positions. The closest artist I would relate these to would be John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. If you're looking for "the" Fender tone then pick these up!
