Seymour Duncan STR-1 54 Neck Pickup I bought this to replace the neck pickup in a Hondo Fame Telecaster copy. The pickups in this guitar were weak and a bit dull. It was a toss up between the Seymour Duncans & Dimarzio Twang King or True Velvet. Since I have Duncans in my other guitars , I opted for the Duncans. The pickup is pretty much what I expected based on Seymour Duncans decription and other players reviews. As far as I can tell , it's true to a 50's neck pickup. It's not as bright as a Strat pickup and has a very nice smooth tone. Works fine for Blues , Jazz , Pop etc.. it's not got alot of TWANG like maybe the Twang King neck pickup does so it really depends on what you are looking for. I was going for a traditional 50's Tele sound and I think I've achieved that or come close anyway. I gave it a four because it could probably do with just a tad, smidge, hair, whatever you want to call it more top end but then again I didn't want it so bright as a Strat. The output I would say is moderate which is how it's described on the Duncan website. I'm happy enough with it for the moment. Definately good quality here as I've always found with Seymour Duncan pickups. I have it twinned with a Jerry Donahue model in the bridge and they work really well together. This combination works well for Country, Classic Rock, Jazz, Pop etc......
