Availability:

One of the highest output pickups made.

The Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rail Stacked Single Coil Pickup is one of the highest output pickups made. It's a humbucker that fits into a normal single-coil pickup slot, so you get noise canceling without cutting a large hole in your guitar. The 2 thin blades with powerful coil windings give you the incredible sustain and fat, full sound that's needed for playing heavier rock music. This Seymour Duncan SHR-1 pickup responds to the subtlest finger movements.

  • HotRailed right into the wall!

As reviewed by austin on 6/7/2010

I put one of these in a project strat two summers ago. the add is right. its extremely high output. it puts you in the unique position of having a humbucker that sounds like a humbucker, but also manages to keep the guitar sounding like a strat. its super-hot. and super-loud. but the best part? its SILENT! there isn't even a shadow of a hint of a buzz coming from this thing. only very rarely do i even hear the 60 cycle hum from the amp! it was an easy install, and the directions were very clear. unless you're crazy, buy this pickup.

  • What an upgrade!

As reviewed by TJ07043 on 1/12/2010

I cannot imagine a better upgrade for the money. I have a recent vintage American Standard Strat and, although I've always been a Fender guy, didn't use the bridge pup much - didn't really care for the sound. On a recommendation, I dropped one of these SD hotrails in there - what did I have to lose? - and it literally transformed the guitar! Sustain, bite, grit - very much like and LP, but in a Strat body! And, since the American Standard has a 5-way switch, I'm blending the SD in on two out five settings. The best $ I've ever spent on anything related to a guitar. I can't recommend it highly enough!

  • Hot Rails Rock!

As reviewed by Henry on 3/10/2009

Just upgraded my son's MIM Fat Strat with an SHR-1N (hot rails neck) to complement the SD JB in the bridge position. The MIM Strat has proved to be an great platform to build on, and the Hot Rails in the neck position really screams while providing excellent definition and clarity. Whether he's using the increased output to over drive his tube amp, grabbing some pinch harmonics, or playing clean, the hot rails pickup delivers a dramatic improvement in sound quality and dynamics.
