      Seymour Duncan SHPR-1n P-Rails - Neck Pickup (583278)
Availability:

A full-size humbucker that splits to either a full-size P-90, or a special Alnico-powered single-coil Rail pickup.

Until now, if you wanted humbucker, P-90, and vintage Strat tones, you'd have to haul three guitars to the gig. But that was before the Seymour Duncan SHPR-1 P-Rails pickups. P-Rails feature a ground breaking, patent pending design that allows a full-size humbucker to split to either a real deal P-90 or a traditional single-coil. Perfect for a wide variety of styles including country, pop, surf, jazz, blues, classic rock, and heavy rock.

The humbucker sound is full and expansive, owing to the mismatched coil configuration. The P-90 is a super fat. And the Rail coils, when used together, sound like the 2 and 4 "in-between" positions in a great Strat.

These Seymour Duncan pickups can be used in any guitar set up for a traditional humbucker or Trembucker. A single P-Rail will bring added dimension to your guitar sound. However, to optimize P-Rails' unique splitting capabilities and get the best single-coil Rails tones, use a neck and bridge set.

To get both humbucker and P-90 tones, use a two-way switch (push-pull or mini-toggle). To have humbucker and P-90 tones and bring in the added dimension of the single-coil Rail, use a three-way switch (DPDT on-off-on).

  • P-Rails (SHPR-1N - Neck)

As reviewed by Eric Jensen on 2/8/2010

I have ordered 2 P-Rails neck pickups within the last month. Both of them have been mounted. One in the neck position of a tele, and one in the middle position (strat configuration) of a tele body. Both of them have been wired in a parallel/humbucker/single/single configuration. Could not be more pleased. I am getting combinations of P-90, strat, and tele sounds (both leads are Duncan original tele bridges). I would recommend this pickup to anyone except a straight rocker/heavy metal player.

  • versatility at it's finest

As reviewed by Shannon Swartzendruber on 4/18/2013

These pickups are a breakthrough in versatility. I would recommend these for everything except heavy metal. You need to mount these pickups in a triple shot that is the easiest way to get every sound from it and makes wiring a snap. You can get almost any sound out of these things. Thanks Seymour Duncan for thinking outside the box.

  • P-Rails neck position humbucker

As reviewed by Dan Balaguy on 6/5/2011

I purchased a new, but very cheap pink Douglas Les Paul style guitar to continue my experimentation on rebuilding guitars. I put a P-Rails neck position humbucker in this thing and it sounds absolutily great. I configured it to a traditional humbucker wiring configuration because I put a Pearly Gates in the bridge position. The sound is deep, full, and very loud. I had high expectations, but the results very much exceeded my expectations. My next experiment will be to use the P-Rails in both the neck and bridge position. It is well worth the money!
