  • Amazing!!

As reviewed by Tiffany Oeckinghaus on 1/2/2012

I recently bought this pickup and had it installed into my Gibson Les Paul BFG to replace the Burst Bucker 3 in the bridge position. The difference was immediately noticeable. Output wise, it blows away my other two guitars both of which have EMG 81s and 85s with the 18v mod. The output is so ridiculous that if I plug my Les Paul in right after having my amp, a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade 100, EQed for my other guitars that I have to turn the gain knob down a quarter of a turn just so it won't feed back at me. However, this pickup also has awseome tones. Its really crunchy with a tight low end and screaming highs which are great for leads. The only thing that I would warn you about is the cleans. It does NOT do sparkly cleans. This pickup will overdrive your clean channel making it more of a bluesy crunch. I could personally care less about cleans though, thats what the neck pickups there for, cleaner, less output, and rounder tones. To sum up, if your considering buying this pickup dont hesitate. You wont regret it!!!!

  • Best Passive Powerhouse There Is!

As reviewed by NICHOLAS MANZI on 9/19/2012

I was looking for new pickups to throw into my 1958 Epiphone Explorer. I was looking at active EMGs when I found a comparison between an EMG and the SH-8. I was simply enthralled at the superior mellifluous sound that was produced by the Invader. This pickup in the bridge will produce screaming riffs that will soar through the airwaves, and the harmonics, both natural and artificial will sound golden. I highly recommend this pickup in the bridge position.

  • Best All-Rounder for the bridge. Period.

As reviewed by Colin Giles on 6/19/2012

I bought this pickup as a replacement for my Pearly Gates Special that came in my Fender Toronado GTHH. I went into the GC in Portage, MI without a clue of what to buy. I wanted a versatile dual-humbucking setup, as I play everything but metal. He pointed the SH-2N and SH-8 combo out to me. I haven't yet heard a better sounding guitar since. I run my Toronado through a Mustang III amp with a BD-2 Blues Driver, Swollen Pickle Fuzz Pedal, DeltaLabs Flanger, and a Classic Wah. This pickup sounds great clean, despite the nay-sayers (I use the '65 Twin Reverb setting on my Mustang) with a fat, bluesy clean tone or with any combination of effects (it sounds downright sinister with the Swollen Pickle). It offers amazing sustain, and great clarity, it's all about how you adjust it. I find it best with the tone all the way up. As part of a twin-bucker setup, the fat tones and sustain complement the sweet, smooth tone of my SH-2N perfectly, giving that pickup and added depth which really boosts the sound of the guitar. I would recommend not just this pickup, but that whole pickup combo to ANYONE with twin 'buckers. It is a do-anything, great pickup with HUGE output. Not to mention Tom Delonge used this for most of his career, before they designed his Dirty Fingers pickup, which makes it that much cooler.
