I Purchased the SH-4 in the Bridge position along with the SH-1 '59 in the Neck position to try to breathe new life into my guitar. I am amazed with the difference these two pickups made. I put these two pickups into my Schecter C-1+ to replace the stock DuncanDesign 102's. First thing I noticed after changing out the pickups was how much more presence and clarity they added. These pickups put my guitar way out in front of the rest of the band. The stock pickups got muddy when you really went at them, but the SH-4 and SH-1 '59 are so clear that you can hear every string when strumming a chord. The Schecter C-1+ I put these pickups in has a coil tap push/pull switch on the tone knob which, prior to installing the SH-4 and SH-1 '59, didn't really do much. With these two new pickups installed I can get six completely distinct tones out of this one guitar. The SH-4 in the bridge has lots of attack and is very bright but still has plenty of bottom end to balance it out. Overdriven is pure bright rock solo time with great harmonics. The highs tinkle against one another like broken glass down a stairwell. Pull the coil tap and you get a clean Fender single coil tone. Using both the SH-4 and SH-1 '59 produces a great blended soupy modern rock crunch when overdriven and a beautiful thick warm tone when clean. Pull the coil tap and you get a jazzier tone with lots of attack. The SH-1 '59 in the neck is pure Gibson Les Paul greatness. Overdriven is fat and punchy with lots of sustain. Clean is crystal clear from E to e string with beautiful harmonics ringing into eternity. Pull the coil tap and you get a poppy Brit Rock tone. I can't recommend getting anything other than Seymour Duncan pickups but that's what I was looking for. I will say do your research and take your time when looking for the pickup to produce the sound you want. Tone samples were a big help to me.

  • Very warm pickups with a kick to em.

As reviewed by Will on 1/2/2010

I looked at alot of pickups befor buying these. I paired them with Dirty Finger Bridge Pickups that are extreamly aggressive and loud. For my neck pick ups I wanted to find something that was warm and mellow but could still growl and scream with my bridge set up. These filled that gap for me perfectly. These are so smooth and warm that playing any rythem on them is just like candy. Just sounds so sweet and smooth. Just for that alone I was amazed. So playing them clean sounds warm, pushing some distortion on em makes them sound HOT! You can drag out so much sustain thru every bend with these pick ups and they don't miss a beat. In the end tho they are very smooth but at the same time they growl and howl every time you want them to. I find these pick ups are great for softer music, rythem, and riffs. They do great also for slow solo's where you want those long sustained notes that drag on forever. That is where I believe these pick ups shine the most. Due to the sustain these pick ups have its harder to play faster solos since every note wants to come thru as clear and as loud as the last note. So it kinda sounds slightly washed out in my opinion for Metal. So don't go buying these if you want to sound like Drangonforce. If you are wanting something that will give you a punk pop rock sound these will flip the bill for ya.

This pickup is amazing. Killer tone. I put this in the bridge of the Billie Joe Armstrong replica i built and it rocks. I also put a push/pull in it so it can be a single coil. The price is also great. If you want crisp clean sound or more distortion than anyone, you should get this pickup.
