More vintage with less distortion.

The SH14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup was developed by visitors to the Seymour Duncan web user group who replaced the ceramic or Alnico 2 magnet in an SH-5 Custom or SH-11 Custom Custom pickups with an Alnico 5. Compared to the SH-5 and SH-11, the Custom 5's tone is more vintage, with less distortion, but it's still very strong and powerful. Clean sounds are rich and full with enhanced presence. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. Like a higher output 59 Model with a deeper bottom end and expanded output. Perfect for pop, country, blues, classic rock and heavy rock. For balanced and warm instruments. Works especially well with rosewood fingerboards.

Custom 5 = tone to die for

The Seymour Custom 5 might be the 'perfect' humbucking pickup. The pickup has enough output to create that dirty or 'brown' sound with ease, while allowing the articulation of higher frequencies that all high-output humbuckers lose in the mud. Humbuckers are a funny breed - too low output prevents the edge that most are looking for and too high output creates nothing but mud. The Custom 5 is one pickup that hits the bullseye in that it produces the crunch but allow a player to roll off the volume a bit on their axe and produce that bell-like tone. It's no suprise that some of the most expensive USA made guitars are equipped with the Custom 5 as standard issue.
