The other day I bought an Ibanez RG7321, and I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. Knowing that it's a pretty solid built guitar, and the stock pickups are well... crap, I decided to get the guitar and swap the pickups. I got this Duncan JB for the bridge position, and a Jazz 7 for the neck, but that's for another review. To give focus to the Duncan JB 7, it is a phenomenal pickup. It sings like an angels choir on a clean setting. It has just the right amount of bite without being too harsh. Perfect for strumming or arppegiating chords, or what have you... Now for the part that everyone wants to hear, distortion: This pickup responds very well to the right distortion effects. I say the "right" distortion effects because with the bottom B note, I like a nice tight, balanced sound. I used a Digitech modern metal distortion when I got my pickups swapped out. When I kicked on the effect, I knew right away, this pickup meant business. The B note sounded exactly like I wanted it to sound. And this is why I love passive pickups, and why I'll never choose anything else other than Seymour Duncan. Buy this pickup if you're thinking of doing a bridge position swap, I give you my word, you will not regret it.

After listening to the samples on the SD web site I decided to go with the JB model for my Ibanez RG2027XVV. The difference is DRAMATIC and worth every penny. The Seymour Duncan JB model provides a full, warm and more articulate sound than the stock pickup. It improved the sustain, harmonic abilities, and best of all the clarity of the low B string. Distortion is less fizzy fuzzy and more thicky chunky while cleans are more defined and rounded out, less tinny. I spent too much time messing with EQ effects settings to try to fill out the sound of the stock pickups. I could have saved myself a lot of time and frustration by buying this in the first place. Next stop is an SD Jazz model in the neck!
