Now, let's get some things straight here so we you know who's giving the review. I have been playing the guitar for about 10 months, but I consider myself a natural at playing. However, it wasn't until about 2 months ago I got into the technical side of guitars and it's been an adventure, exploring all of the pickups, guitars, amps, pedals, and etc. to create that genuine tone you've been looking for. Now, I own a Yamaha Pacifica 112, which is basically the yamaha remake of the strat. However, after a while, I realized that when I listened to my friend's american strat, his tone was far more brighter, and defintely that genuine "quack" sound. I am myself majorly a Punk Rock fan, but I have become a large follower of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and knew that John Frusciante's guitar playing sounds so beautiful and dynamic with his Stratocaster. So, I knew that i had to find a way, to generate that sound. And then came the Duckbucker. I read the product information on both Guitar Center and Seymour Duncan's website, and thought that I'll take the risk. My reward was bountiful. I had originally modified my bridge humbucker with a George Lynch (of Dokken) Screamin Demon Humbucker to get that crunchy tone for punk and hard rock. However, when I put the duckbucker in my middle position (since I am planning on saving the neck for the Hot Rails Stacked Single Coil in order to play awesome leads), I swear I was getting John Frusciante's exact tone with songs like Under The Bridge and Otherside when I switched it to just the middle position. Beautiful quacking sound it had produced. It just got better when I split it between the Duckbucker and the Screamin Demon. I gotten dynamic distortion to create that punchy sound you hear from "Suck My Kiss" and "Higher Ground" and also many other punk rock guitarists such as Billie JOe Armstrong from Green Day with his earlier work before "American Idiot" (since he switched to a Les Paul Junior). All in all, this Duckbucker is a great pickup, and even greater with a fellow "Distortion/crunchy specialized" pickup such as the Lil Screamin Demon, Screamin Demon, or SHR-1 Hot Rails. Rock on!
