Overview

Untether your hard-earned guitar tone with Sennheiser's ew 172 G3 wireless instrument system. The system's cable emulator feature allows you adjust virtual cable lengths to get sound response just like a cable. Another great feature for guitarists is the built-in instrument tuner-right on the display. The wireless mic system's built-in 5-band EQ allows you to fine-tune your sound even further. Bass players in particular will be pleased with the enhanced frequency response; it starts at a thundering 25 Hz, which is especially effective for 5-string bass guitars-just plug in and play.

I have used the G2 system for over 5 years around the country in convention centers. I thought the G2 system was wonderful - never experiencing any problems, and was slightly upset when I had to replace a fully functional unit due to the new frequency regulation. After receiving my unit, and using it only once, I was glad I made the jump to G3! It is noticably better on many levels. Great product, fair price, great store, excellent service!

I bought this as a replacement for a line 6 because the line 6 cord was so cheaply made. This is total junk. I did the scan to get the appropriate frequency multiple times and still get an unclear signal. Still radio static. If the receiver is even bumped slightly it gives a horrible static sound. In addition, I dealt with volume swells with it. The sync function does not work. This thing is horrible. Steer clear.

Comments about Sennheiser ew 172 G3 Instrument Wireless System:

This mic series is great for the entry level person who wants options but not the cost of the higher end sennheiser stuff. My business partner is a little less of a tech minded guy though and this system isn't completely plug and play for those who aren't as tech minded. It does however give you a lot of control. For the money Sennheiser is the only option for me!

Plug it in turn it on and go. Doesn't get any better than that. I was going to get something cheap and then remembered that I had done that many times before and the heap in the back of my closet stopped me from making another mistake.

      Best system for the money

      By MICHAEL COAR

Comments about Sennheiser ew 172 G3 Instrument Wireless System:

I've tried many cheaper wireless guitar systems over the years, and had nothing but trouble with them such as issues with pops and clicks and range. This system is absolutely great. Easy to set up, it automatically finds a quiet frequency, has good squelch, great sound quality, and quiet. No pops or clicks and it has plenty of range.

      Great sound

      By Lee Cruz

Comments about Sennheiser ew 172 G3 Instrument Wireless System:

I do not use high dollar cables, I typacally use live wire. I bought this because i was tired of getting the cord tangled and having to roll it up every time i finished jamming. This thing sounds way better than live wire cables. That is the only comparison i can give. I did purchase the AKG WNS 40 mini, but returned that 2 days later and got this. Was not really wanting to spend this much but glaad i did. I t has descent range. the furthest i have tested is about 80', that was in the house, from one side to the other and it had no issues. Ther only bad thing is that for the price it should come with the rack mount kit, and rechargable batteries. but not to bigga deal. I willeventually get some recharable energizers or something. Also will make my own rack mounts for it because the price is rediculous for a few pieces of metal. That is why i give it 4 stars.

Don't Even Think -- Just Buy This Unit

Comments about Sennheiser ew 172 G3 Instrument Wireless System:

Too many great features to list them all. My favorites:

When you set up, you tell the receiver to scan the freqencies in the area. It then suggests the best band (where it didn't find any signals/interference). Then you hit the sync button and hold the transmitter near the receiver, and they're both set to the same frequency. Once you do it once, it's a very easy setup and you know you've got a clean channel.

No latency or tone loss. Unbelievably good.

I've got a built in tuner on my guitar, but I still like leaving the receiver on "tuner" display and being able to quickly check that a string is in tune without jumping into my guitar's tuner mode.

Pilot tone squelch (keeps receiver from picking up RF when transmitter is off) ... not have this is what fried my last unit.

Output signal from the receiver to the mixer is incredibly strong -- I usually have to turn the output down a little ...

I'm used to wearing a transmitter with the antenna and controls on the bottom. The clip on the back of the transmitter is reversible so you can wear it upside down.

XLR out -- No more D/I.

Rugged, sturdy, built for the long haul.

Sennheiser 172 G3 instrument wireless system

          By Warren Churgin

          from NJ

Comments about Sennheiser ew 172 G3 Instrument Wireless System:

          very pleased
I am using a DAP 4099s microphone so I bought the Sennheiser system for guitars as it was the cheapest option of obtaining a receiver and bodypack transmitter. The SK100 clips right onto a key guard on my alto sax. The Sennheiser unit worked flawlessly and with no glitches. It was easy to synch and set up. I am the only member in the band that does wireless, thus I had no interference problems. The other members of my group said I sounded much better than when tied to a mic on a mic stand. The freedom of moving around and not worrying about mic placement was worth it.
seems like a nicely made unit. Very happy with the bodypack transmitter.
compared to Shure and other systems, seems resonably priced.
