First off, this mic has a great design. I love the look and vibe of it. However, the sound is just not for me. I was looking to pair something up with my modified SM57, the E609 is in my price range, and I adore Sennheiser headphones as they have a very accurate midrange. I thought this mic was sure to be a winner. When I got it home, and started laying down some tracks to compare it to my mod SM57, the 57 was fatter & warmer. The E609 has this airy top end that I just could not get used to, especially on distorted guitars. It made it difficult to fit it into a mix as the top end occupied some of the cymbal space. I ended up having to roll off top end, and I would rather not EQ electric guitars. I am sure the mic would be awesome for Snare and Toms, but I've already got my favorites for those. I tried to get into the E609 for a couple of weeks, but ended up returning it for a different mic.

Comments about Sennheiser e609 SilverDynamic Guitar Microphone:

I'm a full-time professional guitarist and most contracted sound companies already have this microphone for guitar - I bought mine for the times when I run into the few that don't. My reasoning is that I spend all this $$$ on great-sounding gear, but the sound company is using a Radio Shack Realistic mic draped over my amp, pointing straight down and not at the speaker. So what's the point of having all this great tone if the audience doesn't get to hear it...???

We wanted to mic our two guitar amps so we could run them through our monitors. We had been just running vocals through our monitors and we had problems hearing the guitars. A sound engineer recommended these mics. We got two and they work great!

            Great Mic!

Comments about Sennheiser e609 SilverDynamic Guitar Microphone:

Like most people, I have been using a 57 for micing up my guitar amp. On a whim, I stopped at GC last night on my way to a show and picked up one of these beauties....As soon as I hit a chord, WOW....what a difference! I love the 57, don't get me wrong but for my personal Guitar tones, this mic really captured them. Not to mention it can just lay flat against the cabinet by the cable, no stand needed. I use a variety of different mics for different things, but I've always used Sennheiser for my vocal mics (live). For the price, you can't go wrong with this one! Not to mention the 10 year warranty on the box, which I know I'll never need. Great job as always from the folks at Sennheiser!!

            Great addition to any studio!

            By

            from Brooklyn Park, MN

Comments about Sennheiser e609 SilverDynamic Guitar Microphone:

I am a mic geek, and have quite a selection of mics ranging from "modded" Chinese mics to high-end classics. I bought this on an impulse after getting a GC gift card from my daughter (I raised my kids with class!!), and picked this over the slightly more expensive upgrade (906, I think....). I have only tried it on a few different guitar cabs in my small but very commercial studio, so I can't comment on how it sounds with other sources yet (but will). I always track amps with multiple mics to have more options in the song building and mixing phases, and one is usually some kind of dynamic mic. I replaced the trusty old SM57 with this and I have to say that I may retire my 57's for a while! This has the same high-frequency capture that the 57 was reliable for, but this mic seems to have more "oomph" to me. It seems a bit light-weight on the build, one half of the grille seems plasticy, but at this price I am totally willing to ensure that I don't abuse like I have grown accustomed to doing with my 57's....(lol, I have always called 57's my Army Tank Mics for a reason....). Get this mic!!

            As advertised and more

Comments about Sennheiser e609 SilverDynamic Guitar Microphone:

Using this mic and an SM57 to mic up a Peavy Twin Reverb style amp in my studio. What you hear is exactly what you will get. So make sure you work on your tone and sound since this mic will reproduce a very clear and rich version copy of exactly what you're hearing. We use it with an SM57. Also make sure to use quality cables for an optimum recording. Cheap cables will equal cheap sound and waste the entire point of using such a great mic.

Comments about Sennheiser e609 SilverDynamic Guitar Microphone:

I've been searching for a great cabinet mic for a long while now. The Sennheiser e 609 SilverDynamic Guitar Microphone offers a great modern tone a lot of guitarists are looking for. If you're looking for a more classic rock tone I'd go more for the Sm-57. Like me however, a more modern tone will be without effort brought out with the Sennheiser e 609 SilverDynamic Guitar Microphone.
