Comments about Sennheiser HD205 II Closed Back On Ear Studio Headphones:

I've been using these cans for years and for the price the sound can not be beat. From 20hz to about 14Khz (Sennheiser says they go from 14hz to 20khz) the sound is incredibly even. The bass frequencies are well rounded and the treble range is as smooth as the HD280 with just a tad bit more "sparkle". There isn't any special technology involved but somehow you hear space better with these than many other headphones. Vocals cut through down the middle of a stereo track no matter how busy a song may be. There is something special with the stereo image in these cans.

Unfortunately these aren't the 280s so there are some pitfalls. The most glaring issue is the fit. Where the HD280s hug around the ear, these sit ON the ear. With that combined with the rigged headband, extended use can become a bit painful. I recommend breaking them in before using them for long periods. Also the wiring is suspect. I've owned multiple 205s and all have eventually lost audio in either the left or right. If you don't beat them up, you have no worries, but if you use them extensively you might want to look into replacing the plug (or the entire cable) immediately.

      Excellent Performance-Excellent Price

      By Ben

      from St. Louis, MO.

Comments about Sennheiser HD205 II Closed Back On Ear Studio Headphones:

My son is a DJ and I was looking for a Xmas gift. While streaming "Peter Gabriel...Live On Letterman", I noticed his orchestra (50+ piece) were wearing the same headsets, and they turned out to be the Sennheiser HD 205 II. If it was good enough for Peter Gabriel, I need to buy them. My son was thrilled, he said the sound reproduction was excellent, and the cost was only $50. DJ's are rough on headphones, and he's spent over $200 on pairs that have to be replaced constantly. For this price and performance, they cannot be beat.

Maybe if you have baby's ears

      By gerry t

      from rochester ny

Comments about Sennheiser HD205 II Closed Back On Ear Studio Headphones:

I really can't comment on sound production bc I couldn't keep these on for more than 20 minutes. The ear cups are tiny and the band keeps them super tight on your noggin. This is the only pair I have tried so far, but I took them back after a day. Probably just order something online from now on. Thanks

      Excellent For The Price

      By Russell Miller

      from Brooklyn, New York

Comments about Sennheiser HD205 II Closed Back On Ear Studio Headphones:

The musical quality of these headphones are amazing for the price. The highs aren't nasally, the mids are precise and crisp, and the lows are tight. Some will complain about the lack of a booming bass, but I don't think thats what Sennheiser was trying to go for with these headphones. These headphones are incredibly flat, meaning that they do not have the incredible cuts and boosts in the audio signal like a certain pair of Sony's in the same price range that shall remain nameless. ;) I beat my equipment up, so if you're like me and looking for durable head phones to last your year in and year out I would spend my money else where. If you are good to your gear un-like I am, these could not be a better set for you. I love the look of these headphones, silver and black never fails to catch my eyes. The ear sets on this unit are a tad bit snug but after a few listens they'll come around. There is a padding bar on the head band which is nice but in the summer try not to wear them around your neck, unless you like having sweat in your hair. ;)

      Not bad for the price.

      By Joe

      from Tucson, AZ

Comments about Sennheiser HD205 II Closed Back On Ear Studio Headphones:

They are not bad for the price at all. They are a bit small around the ears if you have big ears like myself, but the extra padding makes them bearable. If you have the extra money I would recommend getting something like the 280s, but they are great for their price.

      Hurt

      By TJ

      from summerlin, nevada

Comments about Sennheiser HD205 II Closed Back On Ear Studio Headphones:

The sound on the headphones are quite good. However if you plan on using them for more then 2 hours, your ears will start to hurt. The ear pieces are small so they put pressure on your ears. Upsides Long cord & cheap. I highly recommend skipping on buying this, unless you will only use them for about a hour or so. If an extra $50 isn't much just go for Sennheiser HD 280.
