Ok, I went for it.

By George.

from North Carolina

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

I kinda went over my budget and purchased these Headphone. There are a few things I think I should mention about them. 1- They are built better than most headsets out there. However, I took the extended warrantee because lets face it, these get the most handling and accidents out of most equipment. So cover yourself. 2- They are very comfortable. They ware well and don't loose that while in use for a long period of time. 3- They sound great. I would not put these up there to a WOW status but they cover a lot of territory when trying to hear things in a mix. HOWEVER, they are not too forgiving with vocal midrange. If the mids are in the mix, they will be right in your ear with these phones. So listening loud will produce a bit of discomfort. 4- Don't expect these to be the kinda Kick back and listen to you favorite CD's Headphones, because they are not that sweet. They are great but not the kinda thing where you sit back and fall into the music. The music will be right in your ear all the time. ( Right in you face if it were a TV ) I like them. I'm gonna keep them. They do what I wanted them to do, bring out the mix in the raw. For mixing vocals it realy brings the lead vocal right up front. But it does not make it bad, just lets you hear it where you seem to have put it. Hope that helps anyone.

Fantastic sound

By Paul

from CT

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

I currently own a set of Sennheiser HD590's (open back)and wanted something with a great sound like the 590's, but with a closed back to prevent the surounding noise from affecting my listening of the music. Tried a pair of AT headphones, at about the same price but they were no where near the clarity of the 380's. These Sennheiser HD 380 PRO are a fairly new model and more than I wanted to spend, but well worth the cost. PROS: Great fit (snug and stays put with any movement), built solid, Low impedance so that a computer or MP3 player can drive them, but most important is the quality of the sound. Nice full sound that is perfectly clear and crisp accross the full extended spectrum. Cons: I would rather have a straight cord. I would highly recomend these to anyone.

Great Buy

By Rico

from Hamilton, Bermuda

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

The first thing I noticed when I picked up these headphones was the high end detail. They seem to reproduce the highs in an accurate/flat yet pleasing way. The mid-range seems to be flat as well but solid. They are a little exaggerated in the low end but that can be expected from closed-back headphones. If you're not interested in using headphones to reference bass then the bass actually is kinda sweet. The imaging is superb. I haven't tested anything yet that has any better imaging then these, but then again, these are the most expensive headphones that I have purchased. You shouldn't be disappointed with these if you're serious about sound.

Get them!

By Silent Guy

from USA

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

Wow these cans are incredible. Now I am no expert but I do love music and these guys are the way to go. They have great bass, great mids and highs. They are very comfy and isolate like shooting range ear protection. These are kinda bulky and probably not for wearing on the streets or anything. The travel case that comes with it is awesome also. Get them, you won't regret it!

Wow! That surprised me!

By Denis

from Portland, OR

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

I had I pair of HD 280's for over a year(they are good for mixing too) and now decided to upgrade. To be honest, I didn't want to spend a hundred dollars more... But when I got it, I was so surprised! I was knocked off completely! They are very flat sound headphones. Very comfortable and so light. Comes with great thick protective case. Wow! I didn't know that a hundred bucks can make that huge difference. So, don't be greedy. Buy those instead!

Awesome - even better than the HD 280's

By MARK REID

from Hudson, MA

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

I've owned a set of HD 280's for about a year, until my daughter broke her cheap headphones and like a fool I let her try the 280's on. She was awestruck at the sound and fit and comfort quality of the HD280's. Well, since she is daddy's little girl, I coughed them up ... they are hers ... and I bought myself soem HD 380's, hoping all the review hype was right. Well, the 380's are just stunning. More comfortable, better audiophile quality ... just perfect and well worth the additional c-note. Now, my challenge is to keep the 380's away from my daughter....

Great for mixing/monitoring and general listening

By John S

from St Paul, MN

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

You can read headphone reviews until you're blue in the face but you just won't know what's best for you until you actually audition several pair. Fortunately, Guitar Center has several top rated models in stock to choose from. So I headed over to my local store where the guys in accessories were nice enough to layout several models for me to audition. I brought an mp3 player with different types of music all sampled at 320kbs - high quality stuff - and spent 90 minutes listening to the following headphones. Here's how it went in listening order. Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro-80 - I went in thinking that I was going to walk out with these headphones based on what I had read, and they did sound good but they were first up so I had no frame of reference. Sennheiser HD 380 PRO - WOW, these beat the Beyer's hands down though I did go back and forth between the two of them with several types of music. Audio Technica ATH-M50 - Nice form factor and the critics love'em, however, to me they sounded cheap: lacked clarity, accurate tonal timbre, and soundstage. I did come back to them again but was reminded of their inferior sound quality each time. AKG K240 Studio - These are nice and a real bargain. Had I not needed sound isolating headphones I may have purchased these and saved a hundred bucks. These were number two in sound quality for me. Sennheiser HD 25-1 II - Very nice. These clamp on the ear and offer outstanding sound isolation but they don't have the soundstage of the HD 380s. I think they're intended primarily for session recording, and for that they would be very good. KRK KNS-8400 Studio - Don't bother, even worse than the ATH-M50s. honorable mention: on my way out of the store I noticed the Shure SRH840 which are supposed to be good, but I didn't listen to them and I'm so happy with the Sennheisers I'm not worried about. IMPORTANT FEATURES: The Sennheisers fold flat and come with a great case. They also have a replaceable cable that plugs into the phones with standard 3.5mm jack.

The Best Headphones You'll Get for this Price

By Kenta Yamamoto

from Maple Grove, MN

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

I was about to buy another pair of headphones when I went into Guitar Center, but someone at the store strongly recommended these headphones, the Sennheiser HD 380 Pro's, that was selling for the same price. I got to try both of them out, and realized that these had WAY more clarity in the sound, deeper bass, and much more comfortable. After taking them home, these phones brought tears to my eyes because they were SO good! I have tried many headphones out before, but these are no doubt the best in clarity of sound, clear yet deep bass, comfortableness, weight, and durability. You even get a detachable cable and a very durable, compact carrying case. Imagine the sound of these after burn in! If anyone is trying to decide in which headphones to buy, you won't be disappointed by these phenomenal headphones! Thanks again for recommending these to me too!

Pretty Good Headphones

By VICTOR

Comments about Sennheiser HD 380 PRO Headphones:

First of all, I bought these headphones when they were on sale. I wasn't sure on whether to buy this pair of headphones or the predecessor to them. I went to my nearest Guitar Center to find out which pair to buy and the expert there recommended these to me instead of the other ones. He did, however, mention that the predecessor to these headphones had a bit more noise reduction than these, but that these headphones were much better overall. The headphones come with a 1/4 inch adapter, which is a screw-on, and a slim case. The headphones themselves are very comfortable and sound very well. Lastly, I usually use these headphones to record music, mix music and other audios, and edit videos. I have used them to play the drum set but I would not recommend them because they don't block out too much of the sound and the drums are still very prominent when you listen to the music coming from the headphones.
