Well to start off these are constructed pretty well so they should last a while. The sound quality is decent but I would not recommend them for recording applications. If you want some headphones to listen to music with from a CD player or MP3 player these should be adequate. I found them to be decent at best nothing special. They sound a bit flat and the low and high signals are nothing impressive. These are good middle of the road listening headphones.

Wow these headphones were a disappointment. I moved into an apartment and I wanted headphones for my guitar that wouldn't break the bank. Now they are very comfortable, but they sound awful. Read the other reviews, most agree. The weak part for these is the low end. The highs aren't that great, but it's the lows that are really noticeably lacking. Still, they're only 29.99. You get what you pay for. I will definitely be upgrading from these.

Great Value

By Mr. B

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

Pros: Long wire, 1/8 in. plug with an adapter if you need 1/4 in. Great sound for the buck. Cons: Light plastic and very thin wire, but this makes it very portable.

Great Product at a Great Price

By Damon

from Ogden, Utah

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

These headphones are definitely worth the money. They are very versatile, and produce crisp, true sounds. One thing I especially love about this is how long the cord is. I bought these to have a performer be able to listen while they lay down a track, and the length of the cord really helps them be able to be where they need to be and not have to strain to have the headphones stay on their head.

>An absolutely, completely, and utterly exceptional set of Headphones<

By Eric Bartlett

from Goldsboro, NC

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

My Black Friday gift I bought for myself arrived today. A combination of Pandora, the quality of the sound produced by the set, and a Dr. Dre Beats headphone commercial pushed me over the edge to write this post. - The first thing tangible thing I noticed when I opened the box was the weight of the set. These are an overall very light and wearable set of headphones with a surprisingly durable construction. Wearability: Check. The next thing great thing is the bass response and highs this set made. Note: I am not a tone-deaf person and I like to think that I can discern a smooth sound from distortion. I was thrown back after I correlated in my mind the price and the sound quality when listening to them. Sound Quality: Check. Something else I wanted to put out witch may be an important trait to some and less to others is external noise reduction. I cranked up my 1100 watt home stereo system to maximum output and I literally could not hear a single sound from the speakers around me when I had the headphones on and functioning. Ambient Nose Cancellation: Double Check.

The Best For The Money...

By Carlton Buehrer

from Longboat Key, Fl

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

I already had a pair of these that I use mostly with my G-Dec 3/30 practice amp at home. Bought them about a year and a half ago and, up to this point, they've worked flawlessly. Sure, the output isn't studio, not advertised/priced as such, but they do sound surprisingly good for the sale price set of headphones. Sound quality is way more than adequate for practice or casual listening on our desk/laptops, tablets, and cells, etc. Got a second set for my wife to use with her Samsung Galaxy S II to replace the buds - and to stay away from my set. Sturdy, dependable, great sounding headphones that do a good job of keeping the ambient noise at bay. The adapter's a nice touch, too.

These sound pretty bad

By Glen

from Anaheim, CA

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

Sennheiser usually makes professional quality stuff, and these got 4 stars on here so I decided to try them because of the low price. I need headphones for monitoring late at night, for recording vocals, and for many other recording purposes. I was really amazed at how bad these sound. The sound is very unbalanced- the low-mids are cranked and I can't hear much of the high end of the spectrum. Maybe mine are broken or something because I can't understand how anybody could like these. Even some $20 Panasonic headphones I bought then lost sounded way better than these. I'm going to return these and buy some more expensive cans. It's not even pleasurable to listen to music with these. I really can't use them for anything except for shielding my ears slightly from loud drummers.

Not for home recording

By William Edwards

from Detroit, Michigan

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

These headphones are pretty bad. Poor sound quality, low output, they do not isolate well while recording. 'Closed'?!?!? Nope. If you record vocals with these guys, you will find the backing track bleeding out of the headphones and into the mic. Do not buy....Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones are junk!

Great Headphones

By Jonathan McCollin

from Florida

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

I really don't know what the previous customers are talking about. These headphones are great! The bass is crisp and they are extremely great for what I need. If you have a problem with the track leaking into your recording get a proper audio interface! These headphones are AMAZING! Point blank!

Great for price and quality.

By Nicholas Key

from Texas

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

In my personal opinion I think the headphones are great for the price, but the most important when buying using this pair of headphones is that they are very poor sounding on most amps. They are great for recording and editing, and even just listening to music. I also must compliment them on their durability, but you are looking for a pair of headphones to use for your amp, these are not the pair to buy.

GREAT FOR BASIC USE

By Joe Wisdom

from Tempe Arizona

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

I bought these to connect to my computer to use while listening to the computer audio when I don't want to use the speaker system. These headphones fulfill that function perfectly. Very light weight and can't imagine requiring a longer cord. Excellent value for the price.

Perfect For a Headphone Amp with EQ

By Marshall Such

from DFW, TS

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

Totally surprised by these $30 wonders! Usually buy the Sony Pros ($99) for studio but times are tight, you know? Surprisingly comfortable and comparing to Sony(s), very close in frequency response. Bottom end is a tad weak but with a headphone amp like the Behringer I've got, you just dial in a little "boom" and you're there. I'm happy. :)

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

Bass? what bass? these things have just about no bass what so ever, just lots and lots of treble. There durable and comfy, but the audio quality was bad. Terrible at monitoring guitar, its just all treble and nothing else. There not good for just casual listening, because again its all treble and mids. But they are good for listening to people talking, like watching youtube or something. When its just people talking, they sound really good, but when it comes to music and recording there terrible. If you want a cheap multi purpose pair of headphones for casual listening, recording, etc. I suggest spending a little more and just getting a pair of AKG 44s.

Horrible for Live sound - Distortion

By Daniel

from Indiana

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

Great for casual listening at home or studio recording. Never a live gig, tried it and never became loud enough; full of distortion at some points. Try getting a pair that has a least 48 - 64 ohms of impedance ... these are 24 and aren't nearly enough to monitor a musician's instrument on stage with a live band.

For MP3 and 16-bit only

By Carl Matthew Ingram

from Oxford, MA

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

With a bottom cap at 21Hz, your bass response will sizzle when you work with 24-bit or 32-bit waves. I had no choice but to boost the lower 3 EQ bars on my soundcard. The Sony MDR-V150 headphones have an 18Hz bottom end and sound amazing compared to these HD201 cans. These are good for light, non-pro listening. I still use these to check bass for that very sizzle when I dither down to 16-bit CD quality or MP3 format. My question is: why do headphone manufacturers waste time making phones with only a 21Hz bottom end? Money down the drain.

Awesome for the money

By Adam Whitsell

from Plano, Texas

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

Amazing sound, best sound I've ever heard. I received a pair for Christmas, put them on, and was exposed to a quality of sound I only thought existed in my friend's 150 dollar Bose headphones. It's not as loud as my brother's AKG 44s, but for 30 bucks, they rival all the headphones I've ever owned. Which were mainly made by Sony. I listen to a lot of music ranging from Classical, Rock, and Dubstep. Classical and rock seem to do pretty well, but it's when I get into the Dubsteps heavy bass that I start having problems with them. From my research the bass response could be a lot better. As far as comfort goes, they work.

Do not buy for home recording

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

These headphones are pretty bad. Poor sound quality and uncomfortable, but the worst thing is that they do not isolate well while recording. 'Closed'?!?!? Nope. If you record vocals with these guys, you will find the backing track bleeding out of the headphones and into the mic. I will be going back to in-ear buds for the time being. But at least they are cheap.
