People who are saying that this is a better mic than a Shure SM58, or say that the SM58 is better than the e835 do not really know sound. Each mic has it's own characteristics. Personally, I sound better on an e835 while my buddy sounds much better on a SM58. The e835 sounds "crispier" than the 58. The 58 sounds much better on a snare drum, or any sound source with emphasized highs. It will smooth the sound. However, the e835 will sound better on a darker voice because of the bump in the high end. I've worked with both mics for a long time, and they're both great for different things. For a utility mic that does everything pretty well, I'll take the 58/57. For my voice and certain others, I'll take the e835. Know the source of your sound, and then make your decision.

After reading the many good reviews people had written, I had my hopes up when our church decided to purchase six 835s for our worship band. When they arrived I was extremely disappointed. Not only do you have to be practically eating the mic for it to pic up you're voice, the sound quality is straight up terrible and there is just way too much handling noise. Not even one of the six microphones is used anymore. I now use either a Shure Beta 58a or an EV 767 for live sets and am extremely pleased with both. If your just starting out and want some cheap microphones that will get the job done, these will do the trick. If you care at all about how you sound though, spend a few extra dollars and get a Shure or an Electro-Voice.

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

I have been using both e835 and e835 S (switch) almost 15 years. Good mic (especially the S model) however I recently acquired a e935 S ...... Must tighter Cardioid pattern ..... less Feedback my new Go-To Mike. Guitar Center should carry all of the Sennheiser Mikes with the switch option (only $10more)

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

I've been using the Sennheiser E-Series from back since they made the "3's". I am < gasp> a karaoke host amongst other things and I have been using the E-310s (or was it E-315) since they came out. Different frequency response than am SM-58 or an AKG or an MXK ribbon or even an Astatic. For the purpose however I haven't found a better mic. I've done karaoke in the rain and weddings on the beach with them and they've been dropped on more surfaces than an OtterBox (tm) would handle and you can pick 'em up and keep singing and the audio guy (frequently me) won't have enough "pop" in the sound when it hits that it would damage even a cheap speaker. Low handling noise., A mic is a tool just like a screwdriver or ,more like a chef's knife.. If you know how to use one properly you can do great with almost whatever tool you have. If I'm doing a song in karaoke with three drunk chicks who can't sing towards the mic I'll use my SM-58s and try to avoid feedback and it'll sound pretty good. The AKGs are very crisp on the high end but they have lots of handling noise. The Astatic is a powered mic that will pick up an ant fart from 10 meters. The MXL is also a powered ribbon mic that has a very warm sound and a classic look (and is VERY crisp with all vocal frequencies that I have tried it with.)

Bottom line: For "general" use, I'll put the Sennheiser E-series against the Shure SM's for a variety of purposes. Those are the two best I've encountered for general "abuse it almost daily" use. Astatics are the next biggest bang for the buck (imho). However if you want to go top-notch and you'll never have to worry about using it on a beach or at a wedding reception then get something old-school.... the word "Blue" comes to mind... But I'd rate the whole Sennheiser E-series a 5/5 for general purpose indoor/outdoor use with high durability, frequency response, little-to-no handling noise,

    Rock on, mighty warriors!

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

If you have been around live sound for a while, you have no-doubt engaged in the "best mic for a hundred bucks" debate. Well for me the E835 is the hands down winner, especially compared to the SM58. I own a bunch of these, and they are my "go-to" mic for many applications. But wait, there's more! This three-pack is an amazing value. Stop reading reviews and buy these.

Limited Feedback and naturally strong mids

      By ADAM LAURICH

      from Carol Stream IL

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

Havent had any problems with feedback or sensitivity. Low handling noise is always a plus. Folks like to drop these mics but still no issues and work great. Usually have to add in some AMBIANCE since the sound isn't as "full or warm" Overall an Awesome Mic!

The Fireman Band using these for sound!

        By JJ Spangler

        from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

I have personally used these mics as well as the band and they are as good as you can get for the price... with one exception, being for Hip-Hop performers. While in Las Vegas we leased one of our sound systems to a local venue who had a great deal of hip-hop artists, many beginners, who performed there. Unfortunately, these mic's are too sensitive for missuse and vocals that should be mic'd with a kick drum microphone. If you are working any other genre of music where clearity is imperative, these are the mic's for you, without busting your budget! -JJ Spangler aka The Fireman

        Definite must have...

        By Karl Fortner

        from Tacoma, Washington

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

if your in search of quality sound out of a microphone... this is the one. The frequency response across the spectrum is clear and robust. I own PG48, PG58 and SM58 mic's and thought I had the best for the price... I was wrong! The E835 is much more the microphone than the other brand. I could not believe how much clearer and more responsive this microphone is over the others. Having just purchased these, I can't comment on the durability. I do have a Sennheiser wireless that has been working for me for 6 years and my partner has an E835 that she has been using for 6 months and it has held up. Its solid, has a nice weight to it, doesn't pick up side noises or when your handling it. All in all it is just a great microphone.

        Sennheiser wins again

        By Gbluesy

        from North Carolina

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

Yep, got these mics because of the reviews and had to give it a try. First show we used them on was a pleasure from start to finish. Vocals now have that detail in the midrange and smooth at the same time. Nice clean and robust vocals. What else can you ask for at that price range. We had a 58 on the side for when some one wanted to get up and sing ( No more using my mic ) Well the 58 worked well but it did not have that quality the Sennheisers had. That kinda set my opinion right there. We have to say this time, we managed to step up a notch in the music world. LOL These mics are worth it. You will not go wrong.
