Rivals the Sm57

This microphone gives the SM57 a run for its money and in some cases is better than it. I love using this for my guitar amp recording. It always picks up the sound beautifully and you can lay it right on the grill and get a great sound. I also use it for a kick drum mic and it performs great also. Works well with a snare and other drums. I completely recommend this if you want an alternative for the sm57 because this is awesome.

Great Mic

This mic is what I use to mic my Vox half stack. It works great, just put it near a speaker, and it works perfectly. The sound is perfect, and it is an amazing deal for the money. I'd highly recommend it to anyone miking a guitar amp.

It's that good

I'd read enough raves (and, let's be honest, a few slams) about this microphone, so I picked one up. I'm using it primarily to mic bass amps, and I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results. Be advised, though, that this mic does require some tweaking. When I first got it home I tested it out by playing my Epiphone Jack Casady through my Carvin 100 watt 1x10 at substantial volume, miking with the E609, and recording the result to a Tascam digital portastudio. My initial test was, let's say, "inconclusive" (actually it sounded like crap!) You've really got to tweak position (a little off the center of the driver) and input gain (dial it way down.) It didn't take long to produce a recording that sounded dead-on like the live sound from the amp. I love the Casady for its natural tone - thick, buttery lows, cleanly articulated mids, and just a hint of finger noise - and that's exactly what the E609 picked up.

Benny

I just bought the mic today because my PG57 obviously wasnt getting the job done. Well it was, but not up to the stature I wanted. This microphone is incredible. Its cheap and sounds absolutly great. I was blown away by the much clearer sound I had once I began recording. If your looking for a clearing sound whether its heavy distortion or acustic this should be in your possibility list. And if your boke like me then it should be at the top!
