  • Dissappointed

As reviewed by Steve SanSoucie on 5/21/2011

I'm disappointed with mic. I've always been a wireless mic person (shure slx) but so many people have been telling me the Sennheiser corded mics are the way to go. For me this mic didn't work. I sing lead vocal and had a hard time cutting through the mix. The power just wasn't there. The hi end of tones weren't great. Unfortunately I'll keep it in my bag as a back up, but definitely not my first choice.

  • A great upgrade.

I purchased the Sennheiser E835 6 months ago. I run it with a Phonic EQ, and old Peavey Mixer. This mic has held up to all of my bands practice sessions and through all of our shows. It has been dropped, stuffed in the bottem of the gear bag, thrown, spun, kicked and spit on and it still works just as new (aside a few scratches). When comparing it to the Shure SM58, my Sennheiser picks up the screaming portion of my vocals with a near perfect sound. I have used this mic in recording as well, everything came out clear. Granted a condencer mic would be a better tool for recording i think. This is a worthy front man mic. Durable, reliable and definitely worth it's money.

  • Sennheiser e835

As reviewed by AccurateSound1985 on 9/7/2006

The Sennheiser e835 vocal mic was a great addition to my collection. To me vocal mics are the hardest to choose as every singer can really use a different mic. The reason I liked the Sennheiser e835 over the Audix OM-2 and the Shure SM-58 was simple. I liked the frequency response better, and sound was what I wanted when I got it. I would have to say that if I was going for durability I'd pick the Audix OM-2, which was actually the best rounded of the three mics mentioned so far. And if I was going for reliability I would've chosen the Shure SM-58 as they are an industry standard that you don't see fail too many times. Really if you want to get a GREAT stagee vocal mic that combines sound quality, reliability, and durability I?d look into either an Audix OM-5 or Electro-Voice N/D-767A, but as the saying goes you get what you pay for, and if you are really into quality you should look at a Shure Beta 87 or Neumann handheld, just don?t drop one of those. Good luck mic hunting!
