Overview

Made in Canada, the Seagull Excursion Series sets a new benchmark in affordable, quality crafted North American-made acoustic guitars.

It was a very difficult task to create a Canadian-made acoustic guitar with this level of build quality while making it so incredibly affordable. However, Seqgull's fine team of luthiers in Princeville, Quebec rose to the challenge and made it happen.

These instruments feature wild cherry top, back and sides made of a 3-layer lamination of real hardwood, silver leaf maple necks, rosewood fingerboards and bridges, burn-stamped rosettes and custom polished finishes. Also, similar to the S6 Slim, the Excursion models feature the Seagull Slim neck with a 1.72" nut width which is great for players who are more accustomed to a more traditional nut width.

Features
  • Nut Width: 1.72"
  • Top: Solid Spruce
  • Back and Sides: Walnut (3-layer lamination of real hardwood) with Burn-Stamped Rosette
  • Neck: Silver Leaf Maple Integrated Set Neck
  • Fingerboard and Bridge: Rosewood
  • Nut and Saddle: Compensated Tusq by Graph Tech
  • Truss Rod: Double Function
  • Finish: Semi-Gloss Custom Polished Finish
  • Case sold separately

Comments about Seagull Walnut Acoustic Guitar:

Rich, bright sound. Excellent playability. Mine has the Fishman electronics package, which also works nicely. I have been playing for over 30 years and this guitar stacks up to instruments twice the price. I have gigged and recorded with it. Love my Seagull.

Comments about Seagull Walnut Acoustic Guitar:

Only 1 Review? Here: I've played two of these at a local shop about 9 months apart. Someone bought the first one. Both were dread's. Loud, clear, balanced sound. A tone that's unique, woody and earthy, pleasing to my ear. I'd say between bright and dark, if that makes sense. So, versatile if you could have only one guitar. Solid spruce top will blossom in time. Tusq nut and saddle is an added bonus, there's nothing better. Good, consistent build quality. The neck was smooth and comfortable, easy for me to play. A 1.72" nut width should make almost everyone happy. I'd say it's quality, tone and playability are way above the price tag. Affordable for almost everybody. Don't like the rosette? Inlay your own some weekend! Seriously, do not let that stop you.

The only guitar I test drove that's similar is the Gibson. Gorgeous instrument. But the tone of the unit I played was unimpressive. And it's about a grand more. Ha! Tell that to your spouse. Obviously it's a popular guitar, but if you go that route, shop wisely.

My rosewood/spruce is a great flatpicker. My beater is,well, my beater. My next acoustic will be all solid cedar and mahogany. I just love that sound for my late night fingerstyle. True therapy. Had one. Let it go. Hate myself. The one after that will be a Seagull Walnut. It will fit in nicely and probably see the most use. Remember to get a hard case or nice padded gig bag and keep it humidified.

Comments about Seagull Walnut Acoustic Guitar:

I recently decided to learn to play the guitar. I purchased this guitar after seeing it online. I liked the way it looked, the wood used to make it. I also liked the fact that it was made in Canada not China. I ordered it from Guitar Center because I wanted to be sure it would have proper set up, which GC provided. The guitar has a strong earthy tone that I love.
