Comments about Seagull S6 Mahogany Deluxe Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I have only have the guitar a few days so I can not comment on the long term use of the instrument but on initial inspection I am very impressed. The Mahogany solid top and laminated sides and back are nicely matched. In addition the hand rubbed satin finish really brings out the true beauty of the wood pattern which alternates a coffee finish with butterer highlights. The guitar came with an allen wrench for the truss rod, a pick guard you can install, owners manuel, and a Fishman users guide.
The guitar set up out of the box was almost perfect. The neck was only needed a slight adjustment of the truss rod. The action was acceptable for most players but a little high for my taste. Sanding a bit off the saddle brought the action down to my liking. I have a very light touch when I play so I prefer a lighter gage string then the 12's that came on the guitar so I changed them to a set of D'Addario 11's. The tuning keys offered accurate and smooth tuning with no string slippage. The frets were perfectly polished and seated with no string buzzing or dead spots down the length of the fretboard. What I am most impressed with is the extremely well balanced sound that the instrument produces. Each note rings out clear and even through out the tonal register. This is true weather the guitar is played acoustically or amped using the onboard Fishman electronics.
I have been playing guitar for over 50 years part of that time as a full time musician. I have owned many high end guitars and I would put this Seagull up there as one of the most responsive and best sounding instruments I have ever played.
