Overview

The body of the Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo acoustic guitar is solid mahogany and produces a strong sound with an emphasis on a mellow, round midrange. The Maritime SWS also features a solid spruce top, integrated set mahogany neck, chrome hardware, and an Indian rosewood bridge and fretboard. The guitar's high-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age-a thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.

Beyond its curvaceous looks, the Maritime Mini Jumbo offers a sound distinguished by a strong midrange response, making it suitable for performing and recording situations that call for an acoustic guitar that will cut through the mix. The lively midrange in this Seagull guitar will also appeal to fingerstyle players. Case sold separately.

Review Update - 2 years later and still loving this guitar

By John Robinson

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss Acoustic Guitar:

I really love this guitar. I gave it a 4 star review in 2011, and I really need to increase it to 5 stars. About 6 months into owning this, I did a little setup work to lower the action at the nut and bridge. I've also moved to extra light strings. The sound has always been great, but it became much nicer to play with lower action and lighter strings. Intonation is also much improved with the lower action. I'll never part with this guitar. If I get another acoustic, it would be in addition to this, but I really have a hard time imagining I'd play any other acoustic besides this enough to justify buying another one.

A dream for under $700

By Jim

from Akron, Ohio

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss Acoustic Guitar:

I play fingerstyle country music mostly, i.e. Townes Van Zandt, Lyle Lovett, etc. and this guitar has exceeded all my expectations. It indeed has a cutting midrange, but I was also very impressed with the bass response. The high end is probably the least powerful but is unmistakably present none the less. The fit, feel, and overall ergonomics of the guitar are like a dream. Fits nicely in my lap and the wide fretboard is a great width as it gives fingerstylists, especially those who use finger picks, extra rooms to pluck strings. The neck cradles in your fret hand like a perfectly broken in hand-made leather boot, in a word, like a dream. The wood feels very pliable and doesn't sound muddled at all, and it will only get clearer with age! The tone is nor extremely bright nor overly warm. Like I've said it really shines through because of its midrange so your subtlties will always be heard through a band or a noisy cafe, or bar. It responds to pull-offs and hammer-ons really well! I can pull off over three frets with a light pluck and the volume levels stays strong throughout the pull-off. Aesthetically, it is beautiful. The woods are very attractive and most importantly the price. I played a 1981 Breedlove (never knew the model but it cost 1700 new) for a long time and aside from excitement about a new guitar, the Seagull really out performs the breedlove in every way I need it to. Chord strumming sounds great but I really think this guitar will please fingerstylists most because of its ability to shine the subtle sounds of fingerstyle guitar. I cannot imagine any fingerstylist who doesnt want to spend $3,000 on a guitar who wouldn't be dissapointed with this guitar.

Best quality guitar value I could find

By George Brown

from Annapolis, MD

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss Acoustic Guitar:

After looking for months at dozens of guitars at many locations, I ordered this Seagull sight-unseen because I'd played various Seagulls and liked them all. But this one is solid wood; rare in any guitar this price, and a feature I demanded. It exceeded my highest expectations in its awesome sound, physical beauty and craftsmanship. It's been played by two guitarists with over 30 years experience each, and they were both highly impressed. Great instrument. Exceptional value!
