Overview

Made in Canada, the Seagull Excursion Series are raising the bar for affordable North American-made acoustic guitars. As with all models in this series, the Excursion Natural Folk SG features Canadian Wild Cherry top, back & sides made of a 3-layer lamination of real hardwood. Other features include a burn stamped rosette, semi-gloss custom polished finish, and Seagull Slim neck with slimmer nut width.

Excursion Series
Rugged, bare bones & packed full of tone. Made in Canada, the Seagull Excursion Series sets a new benchmark in affordable, quality crafted North American made acoustic guitars. It was a very difficult task to create a Canadian-made acoustic guitar with this level of build quality while making it so incredibly affordable. However, the fine team of luthiers in Princeville, Quebec rose to the challenge and made it happen.

Similar to the S6 Slim, the Excursion models feature the Seagull Slim neck with a 1.72" nut width, which is great for players who are more accustomed to a more traditional nut width.

Features
  • Nut width: 1.72"
  • Top, back & sides: Canadian Wild Cherry (3-layer lamination of real hardwood) with Burn Stamped Rosette
  • Neck: Silver Leaf Maple Integrated Set Neck
  • Fingerboard & bridge: Rosewood
  • Nut & saddle: Compensated Tusq by Graphtech
  • Truss Rod: Double Function
  • Finish: Semi-Gloss Custom Polished Finish

Great Purchase

Comments about Seagull Excursion Folk SG Acoustic Guitar:

I am one of the few who started off playing on an electric. After a little while, I decided it was time to buy an acoustic. I wanted something that was relatively cheap, but still good quality. Upon my adventure of finding my perfect acoustic, I came across this guitar. While some may dislike it's bare bones design, I fell in love with it's simplicity. I really like the burned rosette and lack of binding. Unfortunately, I could not find any of the excursion series in any local shops. One concern I did have however, was the sound quality of the Wild cherry laminate body. The previous all-laminate guitars I have played in the past didn't sound all too well, but I decided to go for it and I bought it. Using a coupon from Guitar Center. The sound was very nice and bright, considering its Wild cherry laminate top. The Wild cherry gives it a brighter tone, but not too bright. This guitar is very well balanced, giving a nice mellow bass and sparkly treble. The finish is very smooth. It feels almost like bare wood. The neck feels more like an electric guitar's neck, rather than an acoustics. The tuners are very smooth. Some might think that spending the money on this bare bone guitar is a bit much, but after all the design and engineering that went into this guitar, it is a very fair price. For a 100% Canadian-made guitar, this is definitely one purchase I am very proud to have made.

Bought this as a first guitar for my 12-year old daughter. I am extremely happy with the feel, intonation, and fit and finish. for the price, I doubt this guitar can be beat, and it's made in Canada, which gave me even more confidence in buying it sight unseen.

Comments about Seagull Excursion Folk SG Acoustic Guitar:

Plain and simple design, which I like. It came from the factory with the action just perfect (as low as it could be without buzzing). Very good for my fingerpicking style. This is my first guitar with a shorter scale and I love it. You will not find a better guitar for the price.

Comments about Seagull Excursion Folk SG Acoustic Guitar:

Bought this as a gift for my husband, who wanted to start learning to play. We looked for a good basic starter, nothing too expensive but with a good quality sound. The Seagull Excursion Folk definitely fit the bill. It is an amazing loud acoustic with great tone. The natural look may not appeal to everyone, but it is beautiful in its own way and definitely shows off the wood grain and quality of the build itself.
