The left-handed Seagull Coastline Series S12 is a 12-String QI acoustic-electric dreadnought guitar that has the rich, full sound only a quality 12-string guitar can produce. With a warm mid-range tone and of course, the award winning craftsmanship and value for which Seagull is known, the S12 dreadnought guitar features an ultra thin semi-gloss finish, a select pressure-tested solid cedar top, and built-in Godin QI electonics that let you hit the stage fully loaded for any venue.

12-string guitars must endure a great deal of added neck stress. Seagull guitar's neck design offers superior stability, even on 12-string models tuned to concert pitch. The straight string pull of the tapered Seagull headstock is an especially big advantage when it comes to tuning a 12-string guitar and keeping it in tune.

Seagull Coastline guitars are one of the world's outstanding values. The back and sides
of Coastline series guitars are made from a 3-layer lamination of wild cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a mahogany guitar and the bright sound of maple, wild cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, wild cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice. Coastline series guitars feature very smooth necks made from silver leaf maple.

The Godin EPM Quantum acoustic-electric guitar system is simple in design and outstanding in performance. This single source system features an exceptionally responsive saddle transducer carefully matched to side mount electronics with rotary volume, bass, and treble controls. The electronics and controls are packaged in a small and easy-to-use format complemented with a finely crafted pewter cover plate. In combination with the transducer, the EQ control range and frequency content have been specifically contoured to provide a very rich and full sound reproduction resulting in performance seen only in far more complex systems.

A Great Value

By Greg W

from Vancouver, Washington

This is my first twelve string and my first couple of weeks with it have been very enjoyable indeed. Given the challenges of sampling instruments (or not sampling them) as a lefty I was going on reviews alone and I haven't been disappointed. This is a great guitar for the price - easy playability, very nice, unexpectedly rich sound, stays in tune. The playability factor is a big one since I've not played in about a year, and my last experiences were with a Strat - so the transition to an acoustic 12 was a daunting one. But no worries with the Seagull - its an easy neck, nice weighting and feel. Seems to be a high quality build, as well. The looks are pretty pedestrian but that's not why I buy an instrument so not a big consideration for me. If you're looking for a twelve string acoustic I haven't seen anything in this price range that seems to touch it.

fair price, very good quality

By Joe

from Seattle WA

I bought this to replace the right-handed Seagull S12+ I'd restrung lefty -- a disaster of poor tuning as you can imagine, but only half the price of this. That being said, I am not at all unhappy now: the Coastline S12 plays nicely, sounds very good, and required nothing more than tuning to be ready for use. Compared to the S12+ (and especially the Yamaha 12 I previously owned), the Coastline sounds warmer -- less brash, if you will, and certainly not at all boxy. You do get what you pay for. The Godin electronics sound good -- not amazing, but certainly good enough for my needs -- and the built-in tuner is very handy, especially on a 12-string. Through an amplifier, the electronics prove adequately responsive. I don't seem to need the EQ knobs, though; they remain on maximum. I didn't need much, but I wanted respectable quality that could stand next to the big names. I expect this should satisfy all my 12-string needs for a long time to come.
