The Seagull Coastline S12 is a 12-String acoustic-electric dreadnought guitar with rich, full sound that only a quality 12-string guitar can produce. With a warm mid-range tone and of course, the award winning craftsmanship and value for which Seagull is known, the S12 features an ultra thin semi-gloss finish, a select pressure tested solid cedar top, and built-in Godin QI electronics that let you hit the stage fully loaded for any venue.
12-string guitars must endure a great deal of added neck stress. The Seagull neck design offers superior stability, even on the 12-string models tuned to concert pitch. The straight string pull of the tapered Seagull headstock is an especially big advantage when it comes to tuning a 12-string guitar and keeping it in tune.
Seagull Coastline series guitars are one of the world's outstanding values. The back and sides
of the Coastline series models are made from a 3-layer lamination of wild cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a mahogany guitar and the bright sound of maple, wild cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, wild cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice. Coastline series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.
The Godin EPM Quantum acoustic-electric guitar system is simple in design and outstanding in performance. This single source system features an exceptionally responsive saddle transducer carefully matched to side mount electronics with rotary volume, bass, and treble controls. The electronics and controls are packaged in a small and easy to use format complemented with a finely crafted pewter cover plate. In combination with the transducer, the EQ control range and frequency content have been specifically contoured to provide a very rich and full sound reproduction resulting in performance seen only in far more complex systems.

I received the Seagull S12 in a timely manner and well packaged. There was plenty of protective foam. The guitar looks and feels fantastic. I did not know how to tune a twelve string but a quick look on line set me up. I tune the guitar a half step down and capo on the first fret with a Kyser capo just to reduce a little tension on the neck. I do not know if this is really necessary but I intend to keep this guitar forever and want to baby it as much as I can. The neck looks perfectly straight with equal distance between the strings and frets from the nut to the guitar. I broke the small G string when I first tuned it up because I did not know what I was doing. I purchased a set of Godin A12LT strings to replace the broken string. It appears these are the strings the guitar came with. The sound is beautiful. I love to finger pick and this guitar has plenty of space between the strings to do this, even with fat fingers. The opening intro of Mr. Tambourine Man really sparkles. This twelve string really adds a new dimension to Paul Simon's version of Scarborough Fair. The built in tuner is excellent. I believe this is one of the best if not the best value in a 12-sting guitar.
I have one of these, and am very impressed with it. The build quality is very solid, and the factory setup was pretty good. A skilled tech can get these to a delightfully light action with little work, and really makes them fun to play. I like the wide neck, and ample spacing between string pairs which makes it easy to flatpick and play melody lines in between strumming. I found it easier to play than the Fender and Epiphone 12 strings for that reason. I restrung mine recently, and after seating the strings it is staying in tune very well. Seagull guitars are held in high esteem by knowledgeable players for good reason.
I have had my S12 for two weeks now. I did a ton of online research and played 12 strings in local shops before deciding to order this guitar from Guitar Center.com. All I can say is it delivers. The sound is well balanced from the lows to the highs. I changed the strings to elixir lights as soon as I got it. I tuned it and have had to only make minor adjustments to its tuning since then. I am amazed at how well it stays in tune for a 12 string. I play at church and the Q1 electronics work well and the onboard tuner is such a bonus. This guitar compares to a taylor 12 or the Martin d28-12 in sound at 1/4 the price. It is simply the best 12 string guitar for the money out there. You will not be disappointed.
It is easy to play, sounds good, handmade, looks good and the price is good what more could you want. The top wood is extremeley soft and you must be carefull not to nick it. Excelent guitar for the money!
I've been looking for a nice 12 string for several years. I was immediately captured when I played the Seagull. I'm a careful buyer and have looked at 12 strings costing 3 to 4 times the price of this beauty. I was looking for a 12 string with good tone and playabilty. I found the Seagull to have a good midrange, the highs ring out nicely and the lows are not too bassey. The Godin electronics are hard to beat. This baby also comes with a built-in tuner, which is a nice feature as I often have trouble locating my electronic tuners. The electronic also allows for a wide range of sound shaping for songs from "Horse With No Name" to the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses." My comparison guitar was a Taylor 12 string. I found the Taylor somewhat more playable but preferred the Seagull for tone and price. I found the Seagull stays in tune very well (a major problem on many 12 strings). The intonation was true up the neck. The action is amazingly easy for a 12 string. For those concerned about the environment, the cherry veneers render a nice tone and are earth friendly (cherry is grown locally). A great guitar at a great value.
This guitar is a great bargain. The workmanship is outstanding. The sound is top notch. I especially like the built in tuner. I also own a Seagull 6 string guitar and have had great sucess with it. I would recommend Seagull guitars for anyone.
