Overview

Many luthiers consider the combination of rosewood back and sides with a spruce top to be the standard that all other wood combinations are measured against. The Artist Studio model is the flagship of the series. Rich sound with ample dynamics and projection this guitar is equally at home on stage and in more intimate fully acoustic settings. This guitar is also an exceptional choice for recording.

Godin Quantum II Electronics
The Godin EPM Quantum II acoustic guitar system provides outstanding sound reproduction and performance. The Quantum II is a hybrid system combining an exceptionally responsive saddle transducer and high-quality electret microphone in a simple, but very effective, configuration. The microphone capsule, specifically designed for use in this application, is mounted at the end of a 6" flexible boom integral to the side mount electronics. Four rotary controls adjust microphone presence/phase, overall volume, and saddle transducer bass & treble.

Microphone signal can be added and blended either in phase or out of phase with the saddle transducer signal. This allows the user to cancel (or notch) potentially undesirable frequencies while accentuating others. This flexibility in combining signals results in outstanding clarity and richness of tone.

The Godin QII also includes a built-in high-quality digital chromatic tuner with LED display.

Includes Deluxe TRIC case.

Great all around Guitar

Comments about Seagull Artist Studio QII Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I am very happy with mine. I have had for 3 months. This guitar has the Spruce/Rosewood sound just as other high end brands do. I hear it described as "mid scooped" and distinct highs and lows. I have the similar Mahogany Maritime model. They both project the characteristic's of their respective woods as one might expect. Mine came set up perfect. All I did was tweak the truss rod but I always do that. I prefer less than standard relief. I kind of shoot for zero. Action came 6/64's and 5/64's which felt great to me. I could easily lower it plenty of saddle I just don't think I would like it better. My other Maritime is lower and that does not make it play any better. Neck angle is 100% perfect. The fit and finish is perfect 100% great. It is beautiful. The gloss is just that, shiny gloss. The herringbone trim on the rosette/top binding/back middle is also classy. Add the Ebony fingerboard and you have the trim level of the Martin D28. Just so you know because information out there even on Seagull's site might make you think this is short scale (24.75) but it is 25.5. Also don't worry about the 1.8" nut. It is so close to 1 3/4 and strings are spaced as such. The electronics are great. Having a blend of a UST and an actual mic inside that I can adjust is very useful. I like Martin and Taylors just fine but at this price point they cannot compete in my opinion. While proper humidification is always recommended I can tell you these are not overly sensitive to humidity which is always nice. I do have all the proper humidity monitoring and adjusting equipment. I have had my Seagulls in less than ideal conditions at times say less than 30%RH and above 65%RH. I had no drastic effect. That says the wood was properly "seasoned".

As good as it gets......

Comments about Seagull Artist Studio QII Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar:

In fairness I ought to mention that I really love Seagull guitars. My last guitar was a $500 Seagull I kept for 10 years and know someone else is really enjoying now. When I decided to get this guitar I didn't care how much (or little) a guitar cost I just wanted the sweetest sounding instrument I could find. I tried every other kind of guitar including one that cost $8,000, most of the guitars I played were much more expensive than this one. And there were a lot of guitars that I would have been thrilled to call mine, but none made me happier than this one. End of story.
