  • My God...clear your schedule

As reviewed by Michael Renwick on 4/22/2014

This is hands down the most fun I've had playing an instrument. I have been playing guitar for 13 years but this thing is so fun. I don't know if its the key that its tuned in that gets me or just the fact that there are NO bad notes. When you slide up the neck or down it is amazing.... This is a must have! I am going back to get another one today for my girlfriend. Hence forth we will now be known as "The Dueling Dulcimers" I didn't put it down for 9 hrs.

  • Fun with four strings

As reviewed by Steven on 12/15/2014

I purchased this fun dulcimer-style guitar (or is it guitar-style dulcimer :-) ) based on the Acoustic Guitar Magazine review. I'm an acoustic guitar player who dabbles with other stringed instruments - mandolin, ukulele, lap steel - and this was the perfect way to dip into the dulcimer. Well made instrument - especially in light of the price. Only minor annoyance is the strings resonate behind the bridge. Fixed that by gently weaving a small strip of leather through that part of the strings. As others have stated, this is a fun instrument to play and one that sparks creativity. It's a D-modal tuning (D-A-D) and the frets are spaced like a major scale. Almost every note is in the D major scale so it's hard to make a mistake. Try sliding up and down between notes - what a kick. I've played this with bare fingers just strumming as well as fingerstyle and with a flatpick. Wooden picks sound great and round out the brittle tone of the instrument while giving lots of volume. Can't wait to bring this to a jam session.

  • Amazing!

As reviewed by harry tucker on 4/16/2014

I recently purchased this at guitar center in Southington CT, and instantly fell in love. I'm a bassist of 12+ years but I saw this dulcimer and it literally blew me away. I have such a hard time putting down. My suggestion is that anyone who plays an instrument go buy a strumstick dulcimer from seagull merlin and you too just may fall in love!
