The Seagull Maritime SWS Semi-Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar is made with mahogany back and sides. The guitar's mahogany back and sides produce a mellow sound and snappy response. The guitar also boasts a solid spruce top, an integrated Honduran mahogany set neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and a Godin Quantum I pickup for a great plugged-in experience.
I've had this guitar for over a year now and love it! I agree with the other reviews completely. The neck is wider than comparable Martins but I like it. I have the cutaway version that I bought from Guitar Center and it is really easy to play. The only thing I didn't like is the action but I just lowered that and now it is really comfortable to play. If you don't want to spend a ton of money I definitely recommend this it has a great full sound!
I got this guitar about a year ago, and haven't been disappointed at all. First, the wider nut width is great if you have medium to wide fingers, although it takes a day or two to get used to it. The "Soft C" neck shape is very comfortable, similar to fender's "Modern C" shaped neck. The piezo pickup sounds a little harsh, but that's pretty typical of most piezos and can usually be fixed at the amp. The onboard tuner is AWESOME, especially if you use alternate tunings. The body is one of the most comfortable dreadnaughts to hold, and the sound is a little less boomy and a little more defined than most. I definitely recommend trying different strings to see what works best for you. P.S. Mine is a cutaway version. it's not listed on the site, but you might find it in-store.
I've owned Takamine & Yamaha acoustic guitars before, I was trying to find something different and more mellow when I saw this guitar, it wowed me. I've been never been a Taylor fan, since i think it's a scam for all the money you pay and the weird noise they own. This guitar you can compare it to a gibson sound, no lies, it's awesome on stage. I've been using it for almost a year now and my other two guitars haven't been used since i bought this one.
