Beautiful tonewoods and an onboard electronics package at an affordable price.

The Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo high-gloss acoustic-electric guitar is made with a solid mahogany body. The guitar's mahogany body produces a strong sound with an emphasis on a mellow, round midrange. The Maritime SWS also features a solid spruce top, integrated set mahogany neck, chrome hardware, and an Indian rosewood bridge and fretboard. The guitar's high-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age-a thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.

Beyond its curvaceous looks, the Mini Jumbo offers a sound distinguished by a strong midrange response, making it suitable for performing and recording situations that call for a guitar that will cut through the mix. The lively midrange in this guitar will also appeal to fingerstyle players. The guitar also features the Godin Quantum I onboard electronics for a great plugged-in experience. Case sold separately.

  • Great Value, Great sound

As reviewed by Josiah on 6/4/2010

I went into the Store looking for an acoustic at a decent price, I have had used an Alvarez and Taylor before, but needed a new acoustic. I looked a few different brands including Yamaha and Fender, then the store clerk brought me this. It blew all the others out of the water. The sound was(and still is)extremely rich. It played beautifully and it was a good deal since it was black Friday. Since I've had it here a the main things I've found noteworthy. Advantages - 1. This guitar holds it's tuning extremely well, which I love. Sometimes I think I need to tune since it has been a while since I have, but then I check it and it's still in tune. 2. When it does need to be tuned, the electronic tuner being an actual part of the guitar is very convenient(especially for beginners who don't know how to tune by ear). 3. The neck on this guitar is slightly thinner than average, which if your like me and you don't have the world's largest hands, is very nice.(I tend to have trouble reaching my thumb over the low E on guitars that have larger necks) 4.As far as sound and playability, this guitar supports a number of different styles and sounds. For me it sounds it's best when I'm playing blues and instrumentals. However, it is a very adapt guitar. As far as aging of the guitar and it's sound goes, I've had it less than a year so I can't really say anything on that. Disadvantages - 1. I really only have one complaint about this guitar. The action was too high when I bought it, which caused a slight bit of "buzzing". When I asked a friend who also owned a Seagull, he said it was something that was common with all Seagull guitars. It cost something like $50 to get the action lowered but it was nothing too bad. Overall, I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for good quality that doesn't want to empty out their entire wallet, it's a great value.

As a loyal customer to Guitar Center I have played all of the Martins, Taylor's, and the Gibson acoustic guitars. Yet none of them deliver as great a sound as the Seagull guitars. With an affordable price, and great sound its a shocker that not a lot of people know this brand.

  • FINALLY an affordable jumbo sound

As reviewed by Max on 6/6/2010

The world of guitar has been slowly dividing into instruments that are poorly put together and instruments that are for the professional. The problem is, that it's assumed the professional is rich beyond your wildest dreams. Seagull is quite an exception to this idea. Seagull has been making affordable guitars for a little while now and this is a beautiful addition to the arsenal. As a bluegrass musician, looking for a guitar that has a big powerful sound with that acoustic snap is a very important thing. This guitar delivers it all in an affordable package, and it feels so great under the fingers that you'll never want to put it down. If you're looking for a great acoustic under 1000 bucks, stop by your local guitar center and grab one of these.
