Beautiful solid wood construction and warm, rich tone at an affordable price.

The Seagull Maritime SWS Folk acoustic guitar is made with a solid mahogany body. The guitar's mahogany body produces a strong sound with an emphasis on a mellow, round midrange. The Maritime SWS Folk also features a solid spruce top, integrated set mahogany neck, chrome hardware, and an Indian rosewood bridge and fretboard. The guitar's high-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the Maritime SWS guitar and its ability to age-a thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.

  • Seagull Maritime SWS Folk High Gloss Acoustic Guitar

As reviewed by Jeff Arnold on 6/7/2010

One of 5 different style guitars in my stable. The guitar has a beautiful sound, I've lusted over many, and for under a thousand dollars you get way more then your bucks worth. I started on a classical, so the wider nut has made the transition to acoustic a breeze. The guitar has made me a better player, you can't be sloppy on the frets, you need proper position or it will spank you and as a student I so appreciate having an exacting teacher in my hands when I'm alone and practicing. Sound wise I try to live in the guitar stores and I've heard a lot of different guitars, and for the money this is the one you want. Be careful, there is a tremendous tonal difference in the lower priced Godin. My guitar was created from beautiful materials, and appears to have been built with hands that know and appreciate craftsmanship and are proud of their product. I've owned mine for 18 months and would buy again if was ever lost, stolen or damaged. If you're serious, want to look and sound good, and still have money to eat after leaving the store; Godin Maritime SWS is what you want.

  • Very impressed - surprised

As reviewed by Mike on 7/15/2011

I find myself picking this one up more and more. I have a lot of guitars. And this little Seagull didn't even cost a third of what most of my guitars run. But I love this little thing! It's really growing on me more and more, I can't help it. It shines with fingerstyle or very light flatpicking, best with .5mm to .6mm picks. Great silking in this top. Is mine the exception to the rule? I don't know, but wow. This thing is nice. It plays better than it should. It was too cheap to play this well.

  • Beautiful Guitar

As reviewed by My First Guitar on 6/29/2010

I have had this guitar for one day. Let me tell you, I was nervous because I ordered it online without actually seeing or hearing it. I just read reviews and knew Seagull was well respected. Well, I am very, very happy with what arrived. It is a beautiful solid wood guitar for a great price. The wood is gorgeous, the mahogany back and sides just GLOW and the spruce top is clear and looks like it should be on a much more expensive guitar. It sounds great, but I do have a beginner's ear. Did I mention the wood is beautiful? OK now for the reality check. The glossy finish is not 100% flawless. If you stare at it, there are a just a few specks of dust that landed on it while the coating was being sprayed or drying. And the center seam down the back does not hit the neck visually dead center, it's offset maybe 2mm. And there was a extremely tiny bit of excess glue on the edge of the headstock veneer that probably could have been sanded away, but wasn't. Doesn't bother me at all, just be aware this is not a $5,000 instrument, so there is not $5,000 worth of finishing time that was spent making it "perfect." But for the price, what you get is just magnificent.
