Great Guitar

By Chris

from Eagle, ID

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

First off Schecter does a really great job with all of their guitars. The Schecter Tempest has a unique double cutaway body. The Seymor Duncan pickups allow that nice meaty sound. Like most Schecters the coil tapping allows so many more sounds. The tempest is a great guitar for any style music. Awsome job Schecter!

Can you say more for less?

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

While I was searching high and low for the right guitar at my local Guitar Center, I found this guitar. I picked it up. And almost immediately fell in love with music all over again. I like rock and I like blues. This guitar Let me play both any way I wanted. I could play blues with a touch of rock or rock with a touch of blues and everything in between. Fantastic fingerplay, great action, comfortable body shape, and a quality tone. I haven't bought this guitar yet. But i've spent over 24 hours at guitar center the past couple weeks just playing it. I'm going in monday morning to pick her up. I suggest you do the same.

bang for your buck

By David

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

I am a long time strat player and decided I wanted to give Gibson a whirl but after playing the tempest I decided to go with Schecter. It does need a little fine tuning to get the desired feel that i like but everything was very simple adjustments. The pick ups sound quite good which was surprising but if you are a tone freak i would recommend going with some new pickups I switched mine out for sh-2 sh-4 seymour duncans. I would recommend this guitar for any style of play.

Bang for your buck

By Caleb S.

from Grand Island, Nebraska

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

This guitar, like many Schecters, gives you alot of guitar for not alot of money. If you're a hardcore metalhead, this might not be the guitar for you, but for anything lighter than that, it's perfect. The body is lightweight like a Gibson SG, but has the full sound of a Les Paul. My Tempest has become my #1 guitar.

Extrodanary product!

By Christopher.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

First of all, Schecter is an amazing company. The Tempest custom is a great guitar; it is priced well, it is not too heavy, but also not to light. It is at a wieght that you know you are playing something. The pickups are amazing and it has an overall tone of a $3,000 dollar guitar. I recommend this guitar for all styles of music.

Schecter Tempest Custom

By Terry Wierwille

from Wichita Kansas

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

Purchased the Tempest Custom over 5 years ago and although I own 3 other Schecters and a Carvin and have owned many other high-end guitars this has been my #1 go to axe throughout. The fit and finish on this guitar is as good as anything made...very under-rated and underpriced in the market. The setup right out of the box was dead-on...comfortable neck with low action, straight neck, and no fret buzz. Two Duncan Designed pickups that work well for many genres of music. The coil tap feature is a sweet addition. After 5 years of heavy use this guitar still looks new - you can't hurt the finish. Tuners have never given any problems and seems to stay in tune forever. The absolute best buy at this price point!

Awsome guitar

By Dave

from Rocklin, California

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a few months back. Best investment I have ever made. I do most of my playing on a line 6 amp, and this guitar gives me the best metal, blues, and acoustic sound for the price, it sounds just like a gibson and a fender with the push pull tab, and is almost half the price. I would recamend this guitar to anybody who wants a quality guitar at an awsome price.

Great Axe

By Mike

from Bakersfield, CA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

I have been wanting to try this for a while and finally did. I'll try to make this short and not rant but I was very impressed. The parts, craftsmanship, and looks were not compromised on this guitar. It has a mahogany body, maple top, set neck, Duncan pickups, etc... To get all this on a guitar that is set up in America for 700 bucks is pretty awesome. Not to mention, it sounds and feels great. It plugged it into a Peavey 6505+ combo (which is awesome btw) and it sounded amazing for metal. I was a little weary about how it would sound when I tapped the pickups, but I tapped the pickups, flipped to the neck position, plugged into a Fender Blues Junior, and it shined. Almost sounded like a Strat. There was a little drop in volume but that should be expected with coil tapping. This is the most versatile guitar I have played and is also very beautiful. Try it out at least.

Best.Guitar.Ever.

By Paul F

from Sacramento, CA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Tempest Custom Electric Guitar:

OK, so I'm officially a drummer, so maybe not the best person to ask as far as playability goes, but I've been a guitar tech for many years. I've set up guitars, built them from scratch, repaired my fair share of Gibson necks... I have a soft spot for Schecters. I had a C1 elite about a year ago and had to sell it to pay for a stack of school books. That particular guitar was a little too 'rock' for my tastes anyway, but it played beautifully, had a really solid sound and was very well built. The Tempest has the same quality about it that the C1 had, but the overall feel is much more Les Paul-like, something I imagine Schecter had in mind when they designed it. Personally, I prefer this to a Gibson, and I've played a few ranging from newer studios to 1970's customs. All the Gibson fans are probably screaming at me through their computer monitors right now. Bear in mind though that I'm a drummer, and we're not known for being the smartest guy on stage, so my advice would be to head down to GC and go test one out for yourself. I had tried out the Tempest standard before going for the custom. The standard is nice, but the upgraded pickups and especially the fretboard make the upgrade to a custom very much worthwhile.
