Unbelievable quality and value!

By Patrick Fitzgerald _ _ _ _

from Paradise, CA

I've owned one of these for two years now, and all I can say is wow! The quality and features of this way underrated Korean-made instrument compare well with anything on the market, even if you spent thousands more. Playability, tone, gorgeous looks (the pics on this site do NOT do it justice), USA Seymour Duncan pups (on the current version), ebony fretboard, real mother-of-pearl inlays, TonePros bridge - incredible! And all for under $600 (15% off) on the day I posted this review! Try one out. You will not be disappointed.

My Favorite One

By Jacob Albert

from Coeur D' Alene, ID

I picked this up about a week ago and this is the most comfortable guitar I've ever played. Lightweight and a couple frets smaller which is nice because it's easier on my permanently injured wrist on the lower notes. When playing unplugged it seems to be louder than my other guitars. As a personal preference I like that so I can hear myself better while learning a new song. Cosmetically it's beautiful, and that was even before I cleaned it up with the wear and tear from being test played in the store. The impression this guitar has made has driven me to play only Schecter from now on.

Great Value

By Erik D

from Tulsa, OK

I bought this guitar back in February of 2008, it's my first electric guitar but I have been a bassist for 15 years. I chose this guitar because it played great right off the rack, and you can get a variety of tones from the use of the coil tap with the stock pickups. I got a great price at guitar center, and for the money I dont think you can find a guitar that has the features and playability that this guitar has. Just a solid value.

Best.Guitar.Ever.

By Paul F

from Sacramento, CA

OK, so I'm officially a drummer, so maybe not the best person to ask as far as playability goes, but I've been a guitar tech for many years. I've set up guitars, built them from scratch, repaired my fair share of Gibson necks... I have a soft spot for Schecters. I had a C1 elite about a year ago and had to sell it to pay for a stack of school books. That particular guitar was a little too 'rock' for my tastes anyway, but it played beautifully, had a really solid sound and was very well built. The Tempest has the same quality about it that the C1 had, but the overall feel is much more Les Paul-like, something I imagine Schecter had in mind when they designed it. Personally, I prefer this to a Gibson, and I've played a few ranging from newer studios to 1970's customs. All the Gibson fans are probably screaming at me through their computer monitors right now. Bear in mind though that I'm a drummer, and we're not known for being the smartest guy on stage, so my advice would be to head down to GC and go test one out for yourself. I had tried out the Tempest standard before going for the custom. The standard is nice, but the upgraded pickups and especially the fretboard make the upgrade to a custom very much worthwhile.

Great Guitar

By Chris

from Eagle, ID

First off Schecter does a really great job with all of their guitars. The Schecter Tempest has a unique double cutaway body. The Seymor Duncan pickups allow that nice meaty sound. Like most Schecters the coil tapping allows so many more sounds. The tempest is a great guitar for any style music. Awsome job Schecter!

Bang for your buck

By Caleb S.

from Grand Island, Nebraska

This guitar, like many Schecters, gives you alot of guitar for not alot of money. If you're a hardcore metalhead, this might not be the guitar for you, but for anything lighter than that, it's perfect. The body is lightweight like a Gibson SG, but has the full sound of a Les Paul. My Tempest has become my #1 guitar.

bang for your buck

By David

from california

I am a long time strat player and decided I wanted to give Gibson a whirl but after playing the tempest I decided to go with Schecter. It does need a little fine tuning to get the desired feel that i like but everything was very simple adjustments. The pick ups sound quite good which was surprising but if you are a tone freak i would recommend going with some new pickups I switched mine out for sh-2 sh-4 seymour duncans. I would recommend this guitar for any style of play.

Extrodanary product!

By Christopher.

from Orlando, FL

First of all, Schecter is an amazing company. The Tempest custom is a great guitar; it is priced well, it is not too heavy, but also not to light. It is at a wieght that you know you are playing something. The pickups are amazing and it has an overall tone of a $3,000 dollar guitar. I recommend this guitar for all styles of music.

great guitar

By Ben

from Oberlin, Ohio

This guitar is great. Great playability and feel. coil-tapping is a nice feature.everyone that sees it compliments me on how it looks.Payed way less then what got in return. Only thing I changed was the pickups to a JB and 59',but the stock pickups will do,but the real ones made it more clear. Schecters are the best

Schecter Tempest Custom

By Terry Wierwille

from Wichita Kansas

Purchased the Tempest Custom over 5 years ago and although I own 3 other Schecters and a Carvin and have owned many other high-end guitars this has been my #1 go to axe throughout. The fit and finish on this guitar is as good as anything made...very under-rated and underpriced in the market. The setup right out of the box was dead-on...comfortable neck with low action, straight neck, and no fret buzz. Two Duncan Designed pickups that work well for many genres of music. The coil tap feature is a sweet addition. After 5 years of heavy use this guitar still looks new - you can't hurt the finish. Tuners have never given any problems and seems to stay in tune forever. The absolute best buy at this price point!
