The Schecter Synyster Gates Special electric guitar features a Synyster styled mahogany body, a 3-piece set mahogany neck with an Ultra Access heel, and a 24-fret ebony fingerboard. It is equipped with Seymour Duncan Invader SH-8 humbuckers with coil-splitting, a Floyd Rose Original tremolo and locking nut, and Schecter tuners. Appointments include a Official Syn skull logo signature on back of the headstock and Custom Syn Skull dome knobs.

Schecter Tuners
These high-quality tuners feature a classic design in a lubricated and sealed housing to protect gears for a lifetime of maintenance free playability. Details include a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning, removable knobs, threaded hex peghead bushing, and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

Ebony Fingerboard
Ebony has a snappy, crisp attack with the density of maple, but with more brittle grains, oilier pores, and a stronger fundamental tone than maple. It has a tremendous amount of percussive overtones in the pick attack, that mute out shortly thereafter to foster great, long, sustain.

Seymour Duncan Invaders SH-8 Pickups
Designed for the heaviest tones a passive pickup can produce. The combination of three ceramic magnets, over-wound coils and twelve black oxide cap screws make the Invader an electrifying force of energy. The wide magnetic field pumps power into your amp with a totally heavy sound. A tone control push/pull switch activates coil-splitting for single-coil tones.

3-piece Mahogany Neck
Made with 3 pieces of mahogany for extra stability. Three-piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the 3-piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

Synyster Signature and Skull Logo
Official Syn skull logo signature on back of (Devil) headstock.

Custom Syn Skull Dome Knobs
Volume and tone controls feature matching metal dome knobs with Syn's infamous skull and tophat logo.

Original Floyd Rose Trem System
The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is used by more professionals throughout the world than any other. No copy can duplicate the patented double-locking design of the Floyd Rose Tremolo System that allows you to lock your guitar in tune at the nut and at the bridge. The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is engineered like no other tremolo system.

One of the best!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Special Electric Guitar:

I have owned 2 Synyster guitars, the custom and now the special and I definitely love them over all my other Schecters I have had. The Syn custom is a good choice, and this one is a good choice for those who like a cleaner looking guitar. I have owned the following Schecters: damien-6, c-1+, Syn Custom, c-1 custom, hellraiser c-1 fr, pt 30th anniversary and now the syn special and played many many more. The syn guitars are by far my favorite, sound wise, shape wise and feel wise. This is the most comfortable guitar I have played and it can handle cleans and distortion very well. Don't listen to the people telling you invaders are too muddy or can't do clean sounds. Coil tap it and it sounds great! If you want one of these rest assured you are getting one of the best Schecters out there. And the stock photos do NOT do it justice mainly because it does not show the white binding well. This guitar looks splendid in person and definitely turns heads. The features are all top notch. You get mahogany neck and body, Real pickups, coil tap ability, an original floyd rose, and jumbo frets. It is a dream to play. The only limitations of this guitar are that both pickups are the same (though they are slightly different sounding using the pickup selector) and that with a floyd rose you are limited to tuning if you aren't familiar with them. I have only had the guitar about a week, but I know it will be just like my Synyster custom, solid and great sounding as well as easy to play. I would indeed replace it with the same thing! This thing looks awesome in person, gloss black with white binding. How can you beat that? Hopefully this review as well as other will help you choose it.

Good, but not fantastic

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Special Electric Guitar:

I've played this guitar at my local GC. Personally, I wasn't too fond of it. 1st of all, the guitar is very heavy. It felt heavier than even a Les Paul. Second, I wasn't too fond of the pickups. They're good if you like a lot of emphasis on the low end, but these pups are so powerful that they almost drown out all the other ranges. A lack of clarity is common in really high output passive pickups. Also, this guitar doesn't feel like it can be anyone's guitar, especially with all of the artist graphics on the guitar (like the "S" "Y" "N" inlays), which may not be an issue to other players (especially hardcore A7X fans), but would be an issue to guitarists who want to make an identity for themselves through their instrument. Also, keep in mind that this guitar is meant for dark, heavy tones, meaning if you're looking for a good clean sound, I would not recommend this guitar. Well, enough criticism. Let's go to what I liked about the guitar. As I said, if you like a lot of bass in your sound, the SD Invaders are the perfect pickup, but I like more bite than boom, so that aspect wasn't appealing to me. I do like the body shape. It's definitely unique, and the headstock looks pretty cool. The action was great on this guitar and the neck felt fast and comfortable. The hardware was rock solid and the frets were nice and clean. Coil splitting is a nice addition, though I didn't notice any tonal difference between single coil and humbucker settings. This is a good metal guitar, but it's lacking in terms of tonal versatility. I guess if you like sheer tonal brutality and like Avenged Sevenfold, this is the guitar for you.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Special Electric Guitar:

This guitar is great for every type of music.. The only problem i have with it is the floyd rose looses its shine FAST and you can't get it back... and the tone knob with the coil tap comes loose really easy.. my two main guitars are this and my Fender Jim Root.. Oh and one other thing is that even though it can play anything... it looks only like a metal guitar
