Overview

Designed to replicate the guitar Synyster plays onstage, the Schecter Synyster Custom Electric Guitar boasts outrageously heavy tone.

The Seymour Duncan Invader is designed for the heaviest tones a passive pickup can produce. The Sustainiac Driver/Pickup produces beautiful Humbucker tones when the Sustain switch is off, and works as the Sustainiac Driver when switched On.

The Sustainiac Driver creates an infinite feedback sustain of string vibrations by electromagnetic feedback. And of course, this signature guitar still features Synyster's iconic ebony fretboard with Deathbat and "SYN" inlays and is finished in black with silver pinstripes.

Case sold separately.

I got this guitar 2 days ago, and being a fan of Avenged Sevenfold, I was in awe when I saw how perfect the finish looked. No flaws, no chips(but that can change if I drop it), pickups sound great, custom inlays, floyd rose 1000 series tremolo. What more is their to ask for? Well when I got the guitar I didn't want to play it until I had it in Drop D, but I did anyways, and it is hands down the most versatile guitar I have ever played, whether it is a Les Paul, a Strat, or a PRS, the Syn Custom-S beats them all. Why? Lets start with the Seymour Duncan Invader: The Seymour is a passive pickup coupled with an active sustainiac. It sounds like a weird combination but its not when you hear it. It is the single most powerful bridge pickup i've ever played. It feels great, it sounds great. Everything is superb, and the sustainiac makes everything 10x better! It literally gives you no limits to tonal possibility. Overall I would give this an 10 out of 5, because no matter what I played(country, metal, blues, jazz, classical, neo-classical), it always delivered(and still does) the right tone. Perfection.

So let me start off by saying this, I am a die-hard Avenged Sevenfold fan. I even have Zacky's guitar. I got the Synyster Gates guitar first. I had bought it used in-store after playing it for at least a good hour to try and get a true feel (which I encourage other serious players to do-Play it before you buy it no matter what the price is) Anywho, I played it for a good couple months and then I had stopped because I had gotten another guitar and normally I'll come back to playing a guitar even though I have quite a few. This one just continued to sit there. I didn't feel the want to have to fidget with the Floyd Rose everytime I wanted to tune up or down for different songs/styles. I play from metal to country. The guitar's overall quality was above average. The pickups stayed strong, the fretboard feels amazing. The things that have upset me about it are that it's quite frustrating to have to fidget with the Floyd Rose and strings when I want to droptune and the fact that the Floyd Rose had also prevented me from fixing the action to my preferences. The guitar itself I've had for a good year now (I've been playing the guitar for 8 and a half years) and it just kinda hangs there on its hanger. It's more of a status symbol or concert guitar just to show off more than a daily player. I have an Aria I payed only $ for at Guitar center and the Synyster Gates doesn't even come close to matching the great sound quality the Aria gives and I paid $$ for the Synyster Gates. The Aria I have plays better than some 4,000$ Fenders. I'm really hoping that I just got a bad one. But hey, if you want a really good A7x sound, get the Zacky Vengeance guitar. Sounds a hell of a lot better, LESS EXPENSIVE I know some of you like that part.

AMAZING GUITAR!!!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Custom with Sustaniac Pickup Electric Guitar:

I've always played epiphone guitars and stuff like that, i'm from Mexico, i used to play a lot of MetallicA,Asking Alexandria etc. so one day i heard A7x and i loved them and loved synyster's guitar sound thats when i saw the synyster custom s at guitarcenter online and i told my dad i wanted it for my birthday but we both thought it's a very expensive guitar! is it worth the price?? so he decided to buy the guitar to me and the first time i touched the fretboard loved the smooth and very nice wood so i pluged it in and played some of master of puppets and the sound was awesoomee!! the bridge syn invader pickup is a BEAST! But the thing i liked the most was the infinite sustain of the sustainiac neck pickup combned with the whammy bar was the best thing the guitar could bring!! the floyd rose is awesome. if you want a very good guitar and price worth this is your best option you'll never regret!

Best guitar I could ask for!

By Jake Chesney

from Friendship, New York

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Custom with Sustaniac Pickup Electric Guitar:

As soon as I saw this guitar in a catalog, it became my dream guitar. I saved up for it for a long time, and finally bought it about 5 months ago. I haven't stopped loving it since then. I play it for hours at a time almost every day. The sound is unbelievable. It plays so smooth. It looks fantastic. The finish has held up great, and it still looks almost new. The Floyd Rose did take a little bit of getting used to, but now that I have it how I want it, it's amazing. The Sustainiac can give you killer sounds. Great for Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, Guns n Roses, Led Zepplin, or any metal I've tried so far. I don't really play many other genres, but I'm sure this beast of a guitar could handle it. I'd recommend it to anyone any day.

The Best Metal Guitar !!

By Samih Mabsout

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Custom with Sustaniac Pickup Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar in August 2012. The moment I plugged it in, and heard that Sustaniac/Invader combination, I was mind blown. The tone is just insanely clear. 24 frets of perfection, from the head stock down to the Floyd Rose. The harmonics on the sustaniac sound very realistic and divebombing has never been so easy! I recommend this guitar to every Avenged Sevenfold fan out there, and to every guitarist who wants shred. This is the ultimate guitar.

Sustainiac's real job

By BETH RAGSDALE

from Rochester, NY

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Custom with Sustaniac Pickup Electric Guitar:

The Sustainiac is a DRIVER, that happens to second as a pickup. It vibrates the guitar so that strings play at the frequency that the bridge pickup recieves; giving you a natural sustain as apposed to a sustain pedal or the Fernandez sustainer. That being established; this guitar is really great. it allows for harmonics like Dimebag Darrell, but it'll last for hours! I find that unplugging the input jack helps preserve the battery life. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone playing rock of any variation. This guitar, as seen on youtube, can work for numerous other genres as well. I personally only play Schecters. They're quality is unmatched at their price. This guitar takes the lot. Synyster Gates is their biggest attraction, and this guitar is a great work of art. I can't wait to try this guitar through a Schecter Hellwin Amplifier.

Incredible

By Benjamin Bush

from Tunkhannock, PA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Custom with Sustaniac Pickup Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. After years of playing a Fernandez with a Sustainer system, I decided to try this out. The sound quality far surpassed what I had expected. It took a while to get the guitar, due to backorder, but it was worth the wait. Feels great. The only downside I have found is that I find myself hitting the pickups when following through with my picking hand. Could use a little more comfort room there. Otherwise, another outstanding job by Schecter.

Best guitar I've played hands down!!!

By Jesse Abraham

from Princeton, MN

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Custom with Sustaniac Pickup Electric Guitar:

Before buying this guitar I had researched and read reviews on several guitars for a couple of months. I don't take this decision lightly. I also played several of the guitars that I was looking at buying at my local guitar center. I tried a LP, a PRS, and a Fender American strat. Hands down the Synyster guitar won. The sound, feel, and overall quality in my eyes were a lot better. I've owned many guitars in the past and this one feels and sounds the best. I own a LP and a strat and to me they can't touch this schecter. The tremolo system is awesome and it stays in tune better than any guitar I've owned. Both pickups sound great but it was definitely woth the extra money for the sustaniac neck pickup. It may not be for everyone but if you use the tremolo at all it is a great feature. I'm not a huge ax7 fan so that did not influence my decision. The neck is very fast and is a little wider than the average schecter guitar making it very versatile for finger picking clean, playing rhythm, or soloing. I can't say enough about this guitar it is very hard to put down. As far as the negatives, I wish that you could buy one without all of the synyster inlays, but that would not stop me from buying it again. Also this isn't a negative but I did have to set it up the way I wanted it but I do this to all of my guitars. I just adjusted the neck, bridge, and pickups to my liking and I was good to go. I would suggest this guitar to anyone the build quality, versatility and sound are awesome...

Sustainiac!!!!

By SAM WOLF

from Arkansas

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Gates Custom with Sustaniac Pickup Electric Guitar:

This guitar is incredible. It has all the awesome features of the regular Synyster Gates Custom, but the sustainiac driver in the neck makes all the difference. It gives you the power to go crazy with the tremolo just like Syn does on stage and on the albums. An excellent guitar at an excellent price. It definitely deserves 5 stars!!!
