My son fell in love with the looks of this guitar as he is an Avenged Sevenfold fan. We went to Guitar Center to check out this model, as well as have him try several other models in various price ranges. He kept saying the Synyster Gates Custom was the best feeling and playing. I grabbed it and plugged in to a decent Peavey Vyper amp and let it fly. It immediately brought a smile to my face! I expected my son to be biased, but he was telling the truth about the guitar. The string action, sound, and original Floyd Rose were wonderful out of the box. I then read that this guitar is solid mahogany with a mahogany neck through body, and an ebony fretboard. After comparing apples to apples I was very satisfied that not only was this guitar one of the nicest I have ever played, it was a great price for what you get. The sound with the Duncans is HEAVY and soulful. Using the coil tap you go from humbucker to single coil and the guitar becomes another animal. Very versitile for any type of music. Not the usual metal guitar that is useless for anything other than metal. I am very happy as a parent and a guitarist with this guitar. My son now has an instrument he loves, which most importantly will keep him playing, and it is also a great guitar he will have for life.

The one thing that I have to say about this guitar is: the floyd system on it is not good. I recently had to string one for the 4th time and the system is ridiculously bad in comparison to other floyds I've dealt with (such as Peavey and Ibanez). The system only allows a small piece of string in it, making it ridiculously hard to keep in there. Another thing I noticed was how easy it broke new strings. I had to restring it four times and I know that other people I work with had to restring it. It could just be a bad one in the bunch, but I wouldn't want to risk the money on it...

Simply I cannot explain how amazing this guitar is, I've been playing guitar for 3 years and I'm pretty expierenced. I played this guitar at guitar center and it just blew me away. It was so smooth, dark and fun. It was great it had the ultra access neck and it was like I said just amazing. I highely suggest buyers to buy this guitar, its worth the money trust me. If your an Avenged Sevenfold fan you'll love this guitar. Plus it sounds just like Synyster's.

      Amazing Guitar!

      By Timothy Dunn

      from Florida

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Custom Electric Guitar:

Let me start out by saying that I have a few guitars and this is by far the best one. I've had this guitar for about 7 months now and it is still just as perfect as the day I got it. The pickups are amazing, the feel is incredible, it looks like a sexy beast and it is just a heck of a lot of fun to play. The only thing that you should know before getting one of these BEASTS, that it has a Floyd rose and Extremely sensitive pickups. This is not a bad thing, it just means that with every guitar, you need to know how to use it before you go out and play on a stage. The Floyd Rose is awesome, and if used correctly you can get some crazy noises out of it. However, if you have never owned a Locking system before, you should do some research, or ask the nice people at guitar center about it. It's not difficult to master, it's just different for re-stringing and tuning, that's all. The pickups are the Seymour Duncan invaders and they are awesome. You can play clean on the rhythm, then slam it into extreme overdrive and switch to your bridge and still sound great. Also, (and I did not realize this when I tried one in the store) but the tone knob pulls out for single coil and pushes in for humbucking awesomeness, which gives even more versatility to the guitar. One thing to know is that if you are playing with the amp I use, (Line 6 Spider Valve 212) the feedback can get really overpowering and it occasionally screeches, however, I believe that it is the amp's fault more than the guitar's. (I say this not to bash the amp or the guitar, just make sure you test it with your amp before you drop a grand on one.) One thing that needs to be said however is that this guitar is so amazing that it will most likely put your other guitars to shame (as it did mine), and that's all fine and great unless you like to play different types of songs (different by tuning). Then there is a problem because of the Floyd. I play nearly every type of genera of music. Classic Rock to metal to ska I've even done a rap cover with mine, but each tends to use a different tuning, and this guitar is not the easiest to switch to a different tuning with. For me, the problem are the springs in the back to counter balance the strings. Because every time I switch tuning, I have to open her up and tighten or loosen them which I hate doing because I fear that I will strip either a screw or even worse, the hole it goes in, and there is really no easy fix to that one. In conclusion, this guitar is easily the best guitar I've ever played, and will most likely put any guitar it goes up against to shame. Just remember that if you decide you want one, make time for a trip to guitar center and play one there. Make sure you do adequate research on anything you have questions with, and if you've never had a locking system before, defiantly ask a professional about them before you buy one.

      Best Investment!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Custom Electric Guitar:

I was planning to buy the Synyster Gates Custom for some time, so I convinced my father to buy it on his GC Card and I just make the payments. And my plan worked!! This guitar is beyond amazing, I love the Invader pickups and the Humbucker/Single-Coil switch. The switch gives the best boost for those awesome Gates solos and leads. The neck is just the right fit, my hand slides down the frets with ease. And the Floyd Rose is so wicked, no bridge and whammy is like it.

      Ehh

      By trogdor1345

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Custom Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar for the ability to have a tremolo at the ready, and also the ability to switch guitars when I need to change tunings live. I had originally purchased an ESP LTD HM350FR, but I was having trouble with the tuning and the strings buzzing. I spent hours looking around stores when this guitar caught my eye. It sounds pretty good, very deep. The extra jumbo frets were a little hard to get used to. The guitar is quite heavy. I tried to use an EVH D-Tuna to make switching between tunings easier, but due to the floating tremolo, there was not enough room between the bridge and the body of the guitar. I've had several issues with the tuning. Every time I would go to play it, every string would be sharp. I would then have to loosen each of the fine tuners. After a few times of this, I would run out of room to loosen and would have to completely readjust the tuners and locking nuts. This was an extreme inconvenience for playing live, which I do very often. I'm not sure if these issues are only a problem with my guitar, but I'm beginning to regret purchasing this, especially for the money I spent on it.

      The Ultimate Shredder

      By R Young

      from Chapel Hill, NC

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Custom Electric Guitar:

I am a huge fan of everything Avenged Sevenfold so of course when I saw this guitar I dove for it. I'm glad that I did, if your interested in shredder and playing on the high E string and up on the higher frets, than this is for you. The Seymour Duncan pickups make it very easy to make the high notes sound the best possible. And although the sleek mean looking body may look uncomfortable, let me tell you, it's one of the most comfortable guitars I've played, I've played for 8 years and make regular trips to guitar center. The top cut away fits perfectly with your body when sitting down. If I had to make one complaint it would be that it isn't the greatest for rhythm and low notes, it's definitely a shredders guitar. To sum it up, it's is amazing for shredding and lead guitars, and it has the looks to prove it.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Custom Electric Guitar:

Overall this guitar is great, great tone, great material, and amazing to play. Highly recommended.
I bought this guitar last week and I must say I am highly impressed by it, I can play a lot of A7X's guitar riffs and it sounds just like the live or album versions of the songs. I highly recommend this guitar to any A7X guitar player.
Very nice Floyd Rose and locking tremelo. Also the Duncan Invaders are very impressive pick ups
I believe this guitar will increase in value overtime as A7X releases more successful albums.

      Not A Fan

      By Musicismytherapy

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Synyster Custom Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar while on a trip to Idaho. My brother and I couldn't find anything better to do that day, so we went to the music store to kill time. While he looked at drum sticks and heads, I messed around with a few guitars including an ESP, 2 Ibanezes, a Fender, and a few Schecters including this guitar.I didn't like the feel or the sound of this guitar at all, though I have definitely heard worse. The tone was terrible and the neck felt almost sticky from the finish. If I were to recommend one of the guitars I played that day, it would more than likely be the Telecaster.
