Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Vintage-4 Electric Bass Guitar:
As the owner of 14 different bass guitars, I finally worked this one into the rotation while playing for my church this past Sunday. And let me tell you - when I plugged into our sound system, this baby turned heads, including mine! It is far more powerful than the 3x more expensive Ibanez that I purchased a couple of months before.
When it first arrived I wasn't pleased with the fret buzz, but some adjustments quickly eliminated them. One of the interesting things about this bass is that because of the two different types of pick-ups, there are so many different tones that it can generate. I found myself getting frustrated that I couldn't get the exact tone that I wanted............until weeks later - when I realized that simply adjusting the volume affected the tone just as much as the other knobs. (I'm an amateur so more experienced players already probably knew that.) Once I figured this out, it was a matter of minutes to get the tone I wanted.
This is also, by far - the fastest bass neck that I've EVER played on. Someone knew what they were doing when they designed the body and slender neck, because it's a comfortable fit, and everything goes together smoothly. There is no moment where I feel uncomfortable playing this baby. And for those who like "slap / funk" bass - oh boy! I encourage you to try this bass with the volume even up halfway. With the Super Slinky's that accompany this bass on arrival.............it's made for funkin' right out of the box! And I have to mention once again just how much punch this bass packs for such a lightweight body.
This bass will certainly bring a smile to ones face when playing - as it did mine! Way to go Schecter!
