I originally purchased this bass the last time it was on sale, I was actually looking for the Deluxe Model but it was not available. I've been playing a Fender Precision since 1963 and a Fender Jazz since 1995. Both wonderful instruments. I first tried out a friends Schecter at some jams and liked the growl I was able to get from it. I had been using a Yamaha as a backup bass, but it was my daughters and I gave it back to her when she was discharged from the service. I was seeking a back up bass for stage and rehearsal use, something a few cuts above the Squiers I started using for this purpose. My jazz was my main bass and I no longer take the 62 Precision out of the house -it's too valuable. I must say, I love this bass. The sound is stupendous . I currently play in a 60's band and also in a country band. I like a big fat bottom tone and what I get was far beyond my expectations, and certainly had more oomph than my Jazz. The bass is well finished and beautiful to look at. Mine is a see through Red. The weight and balance of the bass is very good. The neck is superb. People come up to ask me about it and always comment house great it sounds - and I've used everything from a 1000 watt Carvin Rig to a 50 Watt Laney and numerous in-between amps. This bass sounds great with every amp. It has become my MAIN bass. I would recommend this to others in fact urge you to consider it. You will not be disappointed. I've yet to meet a Schecter bass owner who isn't very happy with their instrument. I even like how it sounds more than my Jazz. Get this bass, you won't regret it.

I bought this bass expecting a really punchy tone for slapping some funky deathfunk! But, when I unboxed this beast, the tone was EXTREMEly creamy. Now I know why it's called extreme. They should have specified it so hard working Americans like myself will not waste our money on creamy tones. Another problem I found is that the bridge description said "diamond bass." What in the world does that mean? It was just a hunk of junk. I wanted real diamond. And it wasn't shaped like a bass. What were they thinking? Now let's get on to the body. There is something seriously wrong with the knobs. I plugged in and played but I had to adjust the tone. When I grabbed for the knobs it was just a 3D hologram instead of a knob! I think the vector inlays have something to do with that but I don't even know.Overall, this bass is crazy. Really crusty. Only buy it if you are planning to take the pickups out and put tin foil ones in their place. The tone might get really funky for some slapping instead of that cellogrind cream.

Found this guitar originally in San Jose store- picked it and was GREAT- while playing- died. I then informed the Guitar Associate and gave HIM MY #. DAYS PASSED no call. Anderson finally helped me and he strove to find the missing bass. 4 days now passed. No call back. then on teh 5th day I FINALLY got a manager- they could not find it either- even though their inventory showed it. I walk into the store the following Monday- entered the Bass section- it was sitting right there on the floor! Still un repaired! Thus this special order.

Love this bass. It is my 4th one and my favorite to play. I have an Ibanez 1400 that I paid twice as much for and it doesn't have the sound or speed of this guitar. It's versatile with a thin neck and comes with Ernie Ball super slinkys my favorite string.

i've been playing bass for quite a while now. i've owned plenty of basses. this has been the best one though. you have to get active pickups. it suffered a fall at the hands of a band member and he paid for me to get a new guitar. i bought the nikki sixx schecter. both basses are awesome. probably won't buy any other brand (unless i ever get the money for a rickenbacker! haha)

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

I'll begin by saying this is my first bass. But I own many acoustic and electric guitars so I understand and appreciate a high-quality instrument. And this Schecter sure does hit the spot. Let alone a great price and value.

The fit and finish are excellent. Hard to describe the Black Cherry finish other than, awesome! I love the look and feel of this bass. Inlays are way cool too. Oh and the sound... yeah, it delivers the room shaking thuds plus beautiful deep thru higher tones. A very full sound range.

Overall I could not be happier with this purchase. And as usual, MF came through with a super coupon. Thanks MF!!

The strings that it came with were tinny sounding(Ernie Ball)I replaced them with a heavier gauge Fender, which produced a rich deep sound, which is why you have a bass guitar in a band.

While not being an expert on this subject, I have had a Peavey foundation Bass for the last 20 years or so and decided it was time to crawl out of my hole and try something new. All I can say is I'm glad I did. Compared to the Peavey (which I know is a little different) i would say this axe is much more enjoyable to play.it sounds great, and is comfortable to hold too. I went to Guitar center and played about 12 different Bass' and this one got my vote. Very reasonably priced guitar and I think is well worth it.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Extreme-4 Bass:

I have two other basses, a Ventura and a Ibanez. Love them both, especially the Ibanez because of the raw sound it has. I wanted a bass that I could use anywhere and had a deep, but clear sound, that's when I ran into the Schecter Stilleto Extreme-4 Bass. This bass has everything you need, the sound, the black cherry color, the electronics, the body shape, and the right weight. It is just beautiful to look at! I use Slinkys for a 5 string bass on mine. The guitar tech at Guitar Center had to groove it out a little for the thicker strings. I use the 130, 100, 80, and 45, to get the real deep sound, especially when you're downtuned. Awesome sound. This bass can be used anywhere, I highly recommend it and I would not go anywhere without it. I still take my Ibanez with me, just in case, and I have it setup the same exact way with the strings. Try it, especially if you downtune, you'll love the sound and the Schecter carries it all the way through!!
