Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen S-II Electric Guitar:

Bought it to play live, I don't see that being an option. Because of the light weight and the neck-dive, playing it with a slide is very hard to do. You have to hold the guitar up while trying to play. This obviously is not only uncomfortable, but very distracting to your playing. It sounds good and the action is set up nicely, as all Schecters are, right out of the box. The color is not as pictured. It does not have a red tint to the stain at all, which was one of the things that made me like this guitar enough to spend the money on it.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen S-II Electric Guitar:

Since I already own 3 Schecters, I figured I needed another. I really liked the way this guitar looked online, apparently that was my first mistake. The pictures on the website show a reddish-brown stain. There is NO reddish tint to this guitar whatsoever. I suppose pictures can be deceiving.

Second, this guitar has absolutely no weight to it, compared to my other Schecters. I understand basswood is light, but it's almost too light.

Third, the guitar has terrible neck-dive. This is an issue with SG-style guitars. But, the overly-light body combined with this shape cause the guitar to hang downward at a 45 degree angle. It's very uncomfortable to stand and play this guitar. I play predominantly with a slide so this poses a major problem. I actually don't know if I can play it live because of the extra work to keep the neck up in the air.

It sounds great. Very clear tone, even with the stock pickups. The setup is perfect out of the box, as you would expect from any Schecter.

Also, my pick-up experience at the store was less than enjoyable. After the salesperson brought out my guitar, they immediately asked me to sign the receiving slip. I mentioned that I hadn't seen the guitar yet. They said "you want to see it?", to which I replied that I did. I was immediately asked again to sign the paper while they opened the box. I decided to wait until the box was open. The inner box was removed from the outer box and the salesperson motioned towards the guitar, which was still wrapped in the foam bagging. I asked them to remove the covering and I was again asked to sign the paper. Three times I was asked before I even saw the guitar I was signing for.

After seeing it, I said that it was not the same color as the one online. I received no response to this except that I was asked if I wanted to purchase a case, strings, or cables. Not exactly the conversation I wanted have at this point. Very disappointing. I decided this was better handled outside of this store.
