I needed a 4-string to go along with the 5-string that I play most of the time. The looks of this guitar actually caught my attention first. The flamed maple top and color of the finish are beautiful. Then I played it, and I found that these Diamond pickups have a much greater range of tone than any P or J configuration I had tried before. The active EQ has a bit higher output, so it's possible to drive the tube preamp in my rig without using a separate preamp. Center detents on the bass, treble, and blend pots are a nice touch, enabling you to figure out how they are set without looking (handy on stage). The Mahogany body is fairly light, and adds a nice warmth to the tone. Actually, the bridge pickup sounds a bit thin to me, but that still fits my style, as I tend to lean more on the neck pickup, and pluck up near the neck joint most of the time. Speaking of the neck joint; short of buying a guitar with neck-through construction, the robust 6-bolt neck of the Schecter is the next best thing. There are no dead spots in the neck, and sustain is nearly the equivalent of a neck-through. I'm sure that I'm going to enjoy this guitar for a long time.

Excellent Bass

By Frank Podczerviensky

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I love this bass. I have the vintage sunburst model and it looks as good as it plays. Good setup right from the factory, the fit and finish are flawless, and the bound neck and body are a nice touch. It has one of the smoothest, best feeling necks I've ever played and the electronics are really versatile. No problem dialing in a wide variety of sounds, and light weight means it won't kill your back or shoulders. Highly recommend this bass!

Awesome Bass Period

By Steve Keaton

from Villa Hills, KY

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

Although I am a novice bass player, I have had many guitars throughout the years. In my search for a reasonably priced bass that I would not quickly get tired of and want something better, I went for the mid-range price. I immediately fell in love with the looks of this bass and the way it felt in my hands was immediately familiar. The range of sound that comes out of this Omen Extreme 4 is incredible. I can dial in almost any sound. I now have two Fender Amplifiers and even my little Fender 15W Rumble makes this Schecter sound great. Interestingly, after owning this bass for about 9 months, I began to feel like I wanted to upgrade. I was pretty set on going with an American Made Fender Jazz Bass. But after playing several Fenders and even the MIM and Squier models, I realized I really prefer the feel, action and sound of this Schecter over all the other Fenders. Maybe someday, if I can play well enough, I will just upgrade to a better Schecter. However, I think I will be happy with this beauty for a long time, and save a few dollars along the way. In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with this model and brand.

Super Bass For The Money!

By David Lynch

from Knoxville, TN

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I've owned Schecter basses in the past, but this one caught my eye hanging on the rack. The looks, feel, and playability are all high-end on this guitar, from the beautiful flamed-maple top, solid maple neck & rosewood fretboard, to the active pickups & controls. I'm always astounded at the quality Schecter delivers in their instruments for the inexpensive price paid - I've always found their basses to be true bargains. I bought this bass as a second/backup instrument, but after playing it for a short time, it has become my main axe - I would be proud to play it anywhere!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I've Been using an Ibanez gsr 200 for a while now, I wanted A little more power and clarity and this new Schecter omen extream wound up giving me a lot more, This bass really improved the sound quality in the mix when jamming and practicing in the band room and I'm sure would do great on stage or in studio as well. Bass came set up to go and is extremely comfortable to play with great action

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

This is a great looking bass, and very fun to play as well. I love the color, and the inlays are one of my favorite parts. There is no buzzing, and the tone is great with the dual humbuckers. I'm pretty shocked that it wasn't higher in price, and I think it's quite a steal. take it while you can!

NVery Nice Guitar

By James Davis

from Piedmont, SC

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

The looks and weight sold me on this guitar. Nice sound from the neck pickup, the bridge pickup is a little to be desired. I had my luthier do a quick setup and changed the strings to a set of DR Fat Beams. Very nice sound with these strings. Noce Bass if you can catch it onsale like I did.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I just purchased this Bass at Guitar Center in Naperville, IL. I've been playing bass for about 30 years, although I wouldn't consider myself to be an "expert" player. However I do know enough about the quality of a bass guitar and I must say the quality of this modestly priced bass is incredible. It was set up perfectly right off the wall hanger and I'm still trying to find one single flaw in the finish of the body, had stock and neck. I played a 3 hour gig the night I purchased it and I never, ever had to adjust the tone or even look at the tuners! I play in a band that does oldies, mostly 60's and early 70's along with a few from the late 50's, and the deep yet clear cutting tone amazed me. It has a bit heavier bridge mass than the last Schecter I owned and the pick ups, although not EMG are quite adequate with the active eq. Well balanced, great smooth unfinished neck, and surprising light weight considering the mahogany body. I just plain love it and am very happy I chose this over the Ray 4 and the Yamaha's and Ibanez's I was thinking about. Biggest band for the buck I could find there.
