Overview

Schecter's Omen-7 Active is supercharged with a pair of Seymour Duncan Designed HB-7 active humbuckers yielding the precision, attack, clarity, and sustain needed to cut through
today’s modern metal and rock mixes.

Maple neck
Maple has a uniform grain, it’s strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a basswood body.

Rosewood fretboard
The most common fretboard, rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is fundamentally richer than maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

Duncan Designed HB-7 active pickups
The HB-7 is a seven-string version of the HB-102 set. The HB-102 was modeled after Seymour's favorite humbucker combination, the USA-made SH-4 JB bridge and SH-2n Jazz Model neck set. Like the HB-101s, these pickups also use Alnico 5 magnets, but have a hotter winding spec, based on the world's most popular "hot-rodded" humbucker.

Schecter tuning machines
These high quality tuners feature a classic design in a lubricated and sealed housing to protect gears for a lifetime of maintenance free playability. Details include a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning, removable knobs, threaded hex peghead bushing and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

TOM w/thru body bridge
Classic design Tune-O-Matic bridge with a Schecter 'String Thru' body tail, for added string tension, sustain and clarity.

This thing right out of the box hits so hard, the pickups are unbelievable. Just an overall fantastic guitar. Also anyone who makes the three star rating or below can kiss my lower posterior, this guitar is fantastic. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone who wanted a fairly cheap yet amazing guitar. Musicians Friend had I shipped to my house in two days, nothing but great service.

Fantastic value- wouldn't hesitate to buy this again! I've been half-heartedly looking at 7-strings for a while, never able to justify the expense as a casual player, but also hesitant to buy the cheapest option...so I was kind of stuck. Then I stumbled upon the Omen and found MF was having a sale that was *completely* unbeatable by any other store I searched, so I took the leap.

This is the perfect 7-string for what I was looking for! It's not top of the line, but I don't feel like I compromised. It's great for the casual player who wants good quality but doesn't feel the need/desire for all the bells and whistles. It gets the job done and sounds pretty amazing while doing it, all at a good price! I decided to pay a bit more to get the matte black (as opposed to glossy), and it's gorgeous!

It came well-packaged and the free shipping was fast. Ordered on a Friday night, arrived Tuesday- quite impressed! The action is great, although there's a *tiny* bit of fret buzz on the B string- nothing too noticeable or anything that gets in the way of recordings though.

I was nervous about the neck size. I've always assumed I have small hands as far as guitarists go. They're not noticeably small but being a female guitarist, comparing them to your average middle-aged male guitarist? yea, probably much smaller! Much to my surprise, the guitar fit me like a glove and it immediately felt like I'd been playing it for years- no transition issues whatsoever.

      Very happy with my purchase!

I love the feel of this guitar. It is my first 7-string. The setup was great right out of the box. I run it through a Peavey 6505+ through a Mesa 4x12. Getting some super heavy metalcore tones.

This guitar is excellent. It was exactly as described, except for a few factory flaws(which are not MusiciansFriends' fault) and not the cleanest inlay work. Still excellent for the money and sounds great!

I bought this guitar a few months ago and I was very unimpressed. It looks awesome and all but the pickups are not even usable. Really good feel to it though, the neck is a perfect size and it feels right to play. It's not at all worth the price though.

Arrived with great action for the 7 string standard tuning. Came with a 9V.

          Great Guitar!

          By MICHAEL WETZEL

          from Portage, OH

This is a great guitar. The playability is awesome for a 7 string. Schecter is always like they say making their guitars with the highest quality of stuff! I love the pickups, even when I drop it down to drop a tuning it is not muddy and always brings a nice kick with it being active. Great tuners, the strings stay in tune very well. It's the perfect weight, not too heavy, and it could never be too light. I would recommend the satin black, it is a much drier not so shiny finish, but you don't need much to clean it, even just a damp rag to wipe off the dust. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone who wants a high quality 7 string!

Absolutely love this guitar. I have nothing but great things to say about it. The satin finish is beautiful, the stock active pickups sound surprisingly good, and the neck width feels great in my hand. This instrument seems very well put together, Schecter has really stepped up their game for 2012. Well done!!
