Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 Passive Solid Body Electric Guitar:
Noticed this was new on the site and was surprised to see one local to me in the Taylorsville store. Went down to try it out and was absolutely amazed.
I knew Schecter had high quality and I have been generally impressed with their selection but this guitar was in another league.
The satin finish was absolutely jaw dropping in person. The grain of the quilt top had a lot of dimension and shimmered in the light. I was not expecting this based off it being satin but it was very pronounced. I figured it would just be another dull veneer but as I would find out with this guitar it was full of surprises.
The blue was deep and attractive. I do not like abalone binding but with this finish I felt it contrasted well and actually looks decent.
Flipping over the guitar I was stunned to see the grain pattern on the back. It looks more like Ash than mahogany and with the blue it accents the grain and makes it pop out.
The satin finish on the back/neck extends the comfort.
I was also surprised by the neck profile. They had a regular active hellraiser which I compared it to.
This model had a much thinner neck and the ultra access made the fret access superb.
Plugging in I was also instantly enamored with the hand wound Schecter Brimstone pickups.
They are as good if not better than any Dimarzo/Duncan I have tried.
Very clear pickups with a tight aggressive punch.
With the coil tap engaged they became chimey and articulate.
also looking to up the ante the tonepros bridge and locking hardware add to the already high level of quality this guitar oozes.
I personally prefer hipshot bridges but Schecter has a way of setting up their guitars to keep their TOM's
super low yet still able to keep the action solid without much adjustment.
I was expecting to be overall happy with this guitar but I left the store completely leveled with how awesome it is. I have never felt this way about an instrument and I couldn't be happier.
