I was walking down the street the other day when a Schecter Hellraiser decapitated an old lady crossing the street. After that it slaughtered a kid's soccer team with it's awesome screeching high notes. It then laughed maniacally and flew off into the sunset. I new then that I could not rest until I owned a Hellraiser of my own.

I eventually had to return this guitar, which is a shame because it's one of the best I have ever owned. The EMGs were amazing, and the coil-splitting made them perfect. Neck was smooth and level and the finish was gorgeous. But the one fatal flaw was the locking nut: it was set up substantially too low and caused the worst fret buzz I have ever encountered, worse than $100 guitars. I raised the bridge to fight it but then the Floyd refused to stay in tune (something else I blame largely on the nut). After 30 days of adjusting and tinkering I admitted defeat and gave it back, which it tragic. I must have just gotten a bad one.

A beautiful power piece of art

By KENNETH

from Astoria, OR 97103

First, taking this thing out of the box for the first time was an amazing experience in itself. This guitar is just soooooo beautiful! So beautiful, I almost didn't wanna touch it, to not affect the perfect quality! Now, playing it is something I have never felt before. I was actually quite bad, because my fingers weren't use to such ease moving up and down the fret-board. It's like butter, compared to my old Dean Baby ML. The Floyd Rose system was really confusing at first. I had no idea what to do... But with a simple look-up on Youtube, I figured it out quickly. It definitely takes a lot more time to install the strings, but it's totally worth it. Tremolo, to me, is a must with an electric guitar. And the locking system keeps the strings in tune for sooooo long! Really, there isn't anything about this guitar that isn't amazing! 5 Stars for any advanced-intermediate player

The Ultimate Metal machine

By Joshua Aguayo

from Cherry Hill, New Jersey

This guitar meets all of its purposes, during live play, for practicing, and for recording in a studio. The sound is phenomenal and tight as well. Each note rings out clearly, it has amazing comfort, the finished neckt thru feels great, the playability is awesome, as well as the tonation. All of this for a reasonable price. I highly recommend this guitar to any metal musician, especially to those who are looking for a bang for your buck with something that is reasonable.

Oh hell yeah!!!

By Michael Cottrell

This is the greatest guitar ever! It holds tune better than any guitar I've ever played. It's comfortable to play, sounds nice, and looks great. I feel like a pro when I play it. Schecter is the best.

Nothing short but Amazing

By Kevin Brashear

from Cincinnati, Ohio

I'll start with what I don't like about this guitar. It can be a handful to restring the guitar (very first guitar with tremelo bar) and the neck can get a little greasy (which is good for slides). Touching the finish leaves smudges (this type of finish is prone to that.) Tuning can also be a little problem but once you have it locked in tune it will stay for days of play. Also requires battery for Active pickups (will still play without it, but will sound slightly quieter.) What I like about this guitar: Great feel, the entire guitar viberates. The finish is absolutely beautiful, especially when you use fine wood cleaning products. The frets feel wonderful. It keeps tuning locked for long periods of time. Tone wise, this guitar is flexible. Clear chords, chunky riffs, wailing screams... Anything is possible with this guitar. Good for practically any genre. I knew ever since I got my first guitar (Schecter Omen-6) 8 years ago I would want to get the Hellraiser in the future (played both of them in the store but could only afford Omen-6) Try this guitar first before you try anything else. This guitar is practically a steal at the price, and compares to quality of Gibson (almost compares to...)

Love at First Site...and then I played It!

By JON MORGAN

from Valencia, CA

I bought one of these because I wanted a hard driving metal guitar to shred on. I did a lot of research and this Schecter quickly the one to watch. I have a '62 Les Paul and an Ibanez S570DXQM, both of which are great guitars but I was still looking for that guitar that fit me perfectly. This is it! I pulled it from the box and was stunned at how much better it looked in person. And then I played it. WOW! The action on this thing is incredible! The neck is the most comfortable I've ever played. It's so smooth. Like butter! The EMG pickups scream from the heavens! The body is perfect. Not too heavy (my Les Paul) and not too light (my Ibanez). Within 10 minutes, this was instantly my favorite guitar. There were parts of solos that I simply could not pull off on my Ibanez that this guitar makes easy. This is definitely a shredder's guitar. My other guitars still have a place in my arsenal but this baby is now my go to axe. I can't say enough good things about this guitar. Easily one of the best purchases I've ever made!

Awesome Guitar

By Ron Snodgrass

from Roseville, CA

WOW!!! this guitar just blew me away, I got the Glossy Black Hellraiser with the Gray pearl binding and let me say the pictures don't do it justice this guitar is so beautiful, the workmanship is high quility Schecter builds a quality guitar, it came out of the box in turn, its so fast I play so much better with this guitar, I love this guitar its the best guitar I have ever played, this guitar has so many sound veriation that you can go from Metal to blues to Rock with just a switch of a nob, the cut away is so great you can easly get to the lower frets without any problem, other guitars claim they have a cut away but nothing compairs to this guitar, The EMG pick ups are fantasic great sound and tone, if you are looking for a great playing, sounding, and looking guitar this is the one for you. If you love playing guitar you have to get one of these!!! all the review I read about this guitar are true I'm so happy that I got this guitar i can't put it down.

Get it!

By jonathan jessee

from Sacramento, CA

I own this guitar and love it. It stays in tune even with the Floyd Rose and produces many tones. I play everything from classical to metal and it is crisp and clean to just the nastiest metal. With the 2 knobs that pull up or push down you can configure the pick-ups about a dozen different ways. It has great sustain because of the mahogany body and the way the neck connects into the body. It has absolute quality components, craftsmanship and finish.

Great value... after 1-1/2 years, I still love it!!

By jason roberts

from North Carolina

I got this guitar in the spring of 2011. I'd been window shopping guitars for a long time but hadn't considered Schecters at all. Ideally I wanted a quality wood body, a real wood finish instead of veneer, a trem bridge, fast fretboard, and strong, versatile pick-ups and, hopefully American made. I was turned on to the Hellraiser after a discussion with the GC salesperson. It had everything on my list except being American made which would have required a substantial price adder to get a comparable PRS or Gibson (did not want a Fender). I was blown away with how the guitar plays, looks and especially the sound. It has a warm tone, nice low end crunch and screaming leads that that frankly make my bones tingle at times. It sounds very good clean but really takes off with some distortion. I would like it dial a slightly brighter tone from it at times and pick-up volume knobs are in opposite position from the pick-up they control, but those are really my only real complaints. The active pick-ups take a little getting used to but they really crank. My brother-in-law has gushed over my guitar as well since I bought it. Considering the finish, the components and the price, this guitar really stands out as a GREAT value.
