I have had my Schecter Hellraiser c 1 for just over 3 weeks, this guitar plays so good and seems to get better as I play. All guitars have an amount of break in as they get played, but this Guitar played great right out of the box. The First thing I noticed when I got her out of the box was the quality and the supreme workman ship of this Guitar. There at so many high end upgrades on this Guitar I can't believe I got it for the price. The EMG pickups are the best thing I have ever heard. It's my First time using active pickups and this is amazing pickup to here, I like to play a lot of clean sounds and I was bowed over by the incredible sound of the clean side. With the push pull coil tap on this Guitar you have anything you want in tone.
The neck fells great to me, a little like my strat but with a new feel, I love the jumbo frats on the beautiful ross wood fret board. Look I could go on and on about how well made and how great this Guitar plays, I think the best advice to give you is don't pass up on this Guitar because you think it's just a heavy metal or slasher only. Trust me I play blues and old time rock, and some jazz this Guitar can do what you want with style and finesse, with a sound you just have to here. And the black cherry is so beautiful, I plan on getting a black one with Floyd Rose, I love my new Guitar she is so sexy I can't keep my hands off her.

I bought this guitar a few months ago based on the countless rave reviews here on musiciansfriend. The last electric guitar I owned was an Ibanez JS1200. I've wanted so much to like this guitar, but it really is just not a great guitar for playing leads. It works well enough for rhythm, but it's got an absolutely tremendous amount of drag as a result of the glossy finish on the neck and the massive frets. I have no idea what people are talking about when they say this guitar can stand up to Ibanez prestige and Jackson soloists. This guitar is nowhere near as playable as my old Ibanez as far as playing leads.

Apart from the play ability issues, the tone is also fairly lousy. Comparing it to my previous guitar is almost like comparing line 6 to marshall or mesa. It's a very flat, undynamic tone that won't respond much to different picking technique. Switching to the neck pickup hardly alters the tone of the guitar whatsoever.

I realize this review won't mean a thing with all the other people on here ranting and raving, but I strongly urge anyone considering buying this guitar to play one first. I played on several years ago and wasn't impressed at all. The reviews on here made me think I had to just be remember it wrong. It's exactly as I remember. Buyer beware.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar:

I love this Guitar The look the feel the sound. I have played many guitars from cheap Memphis to Gibson, and this thing takes the cake. Nice look very well made and playes very nice for the money its like a 4000$ guitar. Hellraiser and the guitar itself looks like fire. Love it I just got a new 2016 Marshall half stack to go with it. When I say its good I mean it.

Schecter makes a beautiful and extremely durable guitar. The tone is versatile, so if you like fat/chunky metal rhythm or if you want the sustain and pitch to shred, this thing fits the bill.
The neck is a little thick on the one i have but its very easy to overlook.
          Worth every penny!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar:

This is the third Schecter guitar i bought in the last 4 months. The first was an impulse buy when I was trying out a VOX amp. A silver guitar on the stand next to me. it looked cool. Picked it up and played it. Nice guitar, I said to myself at a great price, A SGR 7 string. Bought. Before that I was only Fender and Epiphone guitars. I checked out Schecter's other guitars, and discovered active pickups and was hooked. I love the tone and power active pickup put out. I bought a C-1 platinum FR active pickups. Really great guitar and just bought the Hellerasier C-1 with active pickups. A power house of the guitar. Black cherry finish, beautiful looking with great tone and sustain. No wonder the Metal players love this guitar. I am looking for the 4th and last for my collection, a Blackjack sls hells gate, with the duncan active pickups. A very fast guitar. slim style.

          WOOOOOOOOOOW

          By William

          from Martinsburg, WV

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar:

One word describes this guitar. WOW! This is honestly my first schecter guitar. I've been playing since I was around 10 years old. I'm 27 now. I have owned a few guitars over those years. I have always been a washburn then Ibanez fan. I loved my ibanez. I have to say that this Schecter guitar puts it to shame. I was hesitant at first when looking at Schecter because I never owned one. I am glad I decided to take the plunge. First off in my opinion the detail of this guitar and everything that comes along with it is that of a 1,500-3,000 guitar easily. I actually ended up buying the red version. I am NOT a red person but it was on sale and I decided to take the plunge. I got this guitar for a STEAL from guitar center online. The red is absolutely freaking amazing, the pearl inlays around the edges and the gothic crosses in the fretboard are ridiculously beautiful. I got the guitar for playing Rock/Metal. But I have to say that when messing around with the different options it has, it has an awesome clean sound to it. It is amazing how clear it is actually. If you are on the fence about buying this guitar DO IT! You will absolutely not regret it. I read several people over the internet complaining about the neck being painted and sticky and not very easy to slide up and down. That is BS either they are drunk or high when playing because the gloss and the neck are so smooth. My hands just glad down this thing. I can play on this thing like I've never been able to play before. This will NOT be my last Schecter guitar. The price vs. quality of what you are getting is absolutely astonishing!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar:

This is an amazing guitar. However, the EMG pickups need to be ran through a good amp. A lot of people believe you can just plug this guitar into any amp and get great tone. C'mon man. Any guitarist worth their salt knows that the amp colors your tone. If you play through a tube amp you will be amazed and then this guitar will match anything that cost 3x as much.

I own a Gibson, Ibanez and a Jackson besides this guitar and this is the one I like to play and I am most comfortable playing.

          Bought mines Used... BEWARE!

          By Lee Rua Ly

          from Spartanburg, South Carolina

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar:

I bought this same guitar, but used... unfortunately mines came with an old and rusted looking bridge, and the tone switch cap was missing (Really?) Wish Guitar Center would post more detailed pictures of their used guitars. Besides that everything was fine. If you buy used be ready to change the battery. It plays really good and looks like a beast. Would highly recommend buying it new if you can, but used isn't all bad.. just pray you get a good one.

          This guitar has everything

          By David McCarthy

          from Tysons Corner, VA.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar:

Did quite of research and comparison shopping and this guitar has more features for less cash. Mahogany body, mahogany neck, coil-splitting, Tusq XL nut, doesn't go overboard w/ the MOP binding, locking tuners etc... This axe has so much sustain its not even funny and its ready to play right out of the box which is nice. The guitar is finely detailed/no sharp edges on the fret ends or unfinished neck binding. The axe feels really good in your hands because all of this. My first new, quality axe purchase. I'm glad I purchased this axe from GC because I got the good price & didn't have to wait long.
