I had always wanted to try a 7-string guitar just to see how I would like it so I decided to take the plunge and buy this one because the price was low enough so that if I didn't like it no big deal.
I played it in the store and apart from my stumbling around trying to figure things out, the guitar felt pretty good.
So here it is a week later and I am really impressed with this guitar and with Schecter. I grew up in an era where your guitar choices were Fender, Gibson, Hagstrom, Rickenbacker and Univox and those were the brands that I continued to focus on. I mean, I started playing in 1968 and didn't buy my first Ibanez until 2008. In other words, guitarists tend to be pretty loyal to the brands that they are familiar with. I had seen Schecter guitars around for years but had no interest in buying one.
I just want to say that I owe Schecter an apology for not trying their stuff sooner. If they can make an inexpensive guitar this good, their higher end stuff must be dynamite.
This guitar is so playable that after a week, I'm playing some pretty serious music with it.
I play jazz, blues, classic rock, surf and pop (I used to be quite the hired gun back in the day) and am able to incorporate all of these styles when playing this guitar and it does it with almost no effort.
I just can't believe that they can make a guitar this good for so cheap!
Once I work out the jumping off point for the various scales I like to play I'm going to look into their upper end stuff most notably the BANSHEE ELITE-7 FR but even if I do get another one, I'm keeping this one.
If they added some carbon fiber reinforcement rods to the neck and upped the price I'd buy another one. I really like the playability and sound of this guitar.
Darn good job Schecter!

It's a well-built and solid instrument. Even with a longer scale, still feels easily playable by a player who has only used six strings at 24-25.5" until now. My only complaint is with the electronics. The pickups sound great at low volume, but putting it through an amp at live volume settings reveals a ton of unwanted signal noise. Even with every string muted the pickup buzz at modest gain levels is prohibitive in a live environment. It may be suitable for recording at low volumes (where the guitar sounds great) but volume accentuates the pickup noise), but there's no way I could level against a drum kit's volume without being noisy enough to ruin a set. I don't have a noise gate, which might help, but either way I'd suggest upgrading the pups. Good guitar overall though.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research DEMON-7 Electric Guitar:

Really love this guitar. This guitar was my first venture into the world of 7 strings and I could not be happier with my purchase. The feel is great, I find that when its in my hands, it feels just as comfortable as my 6 string strat style guitars. The pickups are great too, I've been able to achieve some great distorted and clean tones out of them. Honestly, I will change them to either the EMG 707's or some other Seymour Duncan pickup. But at this price point, I could not be happier with the guitar overall! 10/10, would recommend.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research DEMON-7 Electric Guitar:

This is a decent guitar for the money, as it is a solid chunk of Basswood that comes with a good finish and more than solid pickups (They are imported production versions of Seymour Duncan Blackouts). My only gripes about this guitar involve the quality. There will always be fret buzz issues with an instrument in this price range no matter how well you set it up. It probably won't be apparent through your amp, but it is there and it is therefore annoying. The "black chrome" hardware tarnishes easily over time, and the for some reason you can't use this guitar with a Vox headphone amp because the input for some reason doesn't like the finish around the jack. Whenever I try to plug into a headphone amp, it just screams at me. Otherwise the guitar works fine with everything else, and this is the only instrument I have had issues with. The tuners on this guitar are fairly typical, non-locking, which add to the tuning stability issues. With that being said, you should most definitely buy these guitars to learn on, or to use as a backup. They can also be a main instrument if you took the time and care with a proper setup. But whatever you do, wait till these guitars go on sale.

This is my first 7 string and it's just amazing. Everything about this beast is absolutely perfect. I mostly play deathcore and death metal (oh my god, lynch me) and this thing works wonders. This guitar made me fall in love with Schecter, and I expect to invest in more of their guitars in the future. Papa bless.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research DEMON-7 Electric Guitar:

The Demon-7 is my first 7-string guitar, and I could not be happier with my purchase.

Here are some of the reasons why I love it:
The low action makes for incredible playability. The neck pick up tends to sound a bit bass-heavy when playing on a distorted guitar tone, but is so clear and has great highs and lows come through when using a clean channel. The bridge pickup is my go-to pickup for distorted rhythm playing; very clear and the sound is not imbalanced whatsoever. The 26.5" neck scale makes lower drop tunings like A and G much easier to play than on something with a shorter neck, strings aren't nearly as floppy. The sustain on this guitar is great, the decay is smooth and very natural feeling. The only real negative I found is there there is some string buzz from between the nut and the tuners, but it's not all that noticeable.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research DEMON-7 Electric Guitar:

I just bought my Demon 7 two days ago at my local guitar center. Days before I bought it I had the chance to play one after eyeballing them online for months and months. I was not disappointed and almost bought it on the spot but was hesitant. It was on sale for the fourth of july for only three hundred dollars. That price ate away at me for two days and I finally went back to make the purchase. Playing it in the store was one thing but bringing it home and running it through my rig was incredible. The guitar itself is very solid, the volume and tone knobs roll very smooth, the tuners are pretty nice, and of course the HB duncans as stock pickups are a killer choice at this price range. Another thing to add is that this guitar has a 26.5 inch scale length which is great for downtuning and sustain of the low B. My demon is tuned to drop G# and the sustain is much better than my ESP seven string which has a 25.5 inch scale. Styles that I mainly play are deathcore, black metal, and some classic rock. So far this guitar has served it's purpose very well for all of them. While this guitar seems to be tailored to metal players it has a very nice clean tone in all positions. All in all i'm beyond happy picking up his guitar for so cheap while being able to add another seven string to my arsenal. Fantastic work by Schecter as usual.
