I got this one a little while back, for a really good price. I have the black cherry and I has an amasing look, and the in lays are beautiful as well. But I didnt really know how good it sounded until I got a good bass amp. This baby sounds goddly, with a low B you can really feel. The only thing I would change is a three band EQ instead of a of a two. But that's what pre amps are for.

I have owned a C5 for little over a year. It looks good, and the pickups sound good if you want the active pickup sound. In my opinion, I think the neck and action on this bass is below average for the cost. I could never get the strings to quit buzzing, no matter how high the action was.

My first 5-string

By Steve-RUGoo

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-5 5-String Bass:

The curved neck makes this bass difficult to play without fret buzz. A lot of it has to do with my own technique and it certainly is possible to play this instrument without any buzz, but it's not for beginners. The tone is fantastic but I find the B note a little loose (this is my first 5-string so this may be typical). Overall an excellent 5-string at a very good price.

Now my # 1

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-5 5-String Bass:

I have owned this bass for a few years now. I bought it as a back up for my Spector. It now is my main axe. More comfortable, playable, and just as diverse as my Spector and Lakeland but half the price. I have been playing for many years and will tell ya. If you are looking to go 5, buy it. You won't be disappointed.

BEST BASS I'VE PLAYED!!!

By EyeHateYamaha666

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-5 5-String Bass:

I recently came across this bass at my local music store, and seeing as how I had never given any thought into trying out a 5-string bass I decided to tinker with it. I was suprised at how much thump this bass had! The songs I played sounded so necro it was insane. If You have a little bit of money sitting around I'd suggest buying this bass. You won't be let down.

The best Bass at the best price, hands down!!!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-5 5-String Bass:

I have owned and played 3 basses in the past year and have been highly disappointed. From Peavey to Dean to Fender, they have all fell short of my expectations and truthfully, left me thinking that all basses were cheaply made and wouldnt last for more than 6 months. That is until I bought the Schecter C-5 and was absolutely blown away. I am a bit partial to Schecter, because I own a C-1 Plus guitar and love it, but never really knew what a great bass was until I bought this one. You can get any sound known to man out of this bass and the EMG pickups on it. Out of the box, I was playing slap bass without even attempting it, which made me giddy like a child. The sound out of this bass is like none I have ever experienced. This is a studio musicians dream.I could not recommend another bass, even at twice the cost, more. Buy it!

Very versatile

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-5 5-String Bass:

This is a great bass (got it around three months ago). It can go from metal to jazz to funk slapping and back with no problems. It's very sturdy, and the black cherry finish is great to look at. Strap buttons work well, I've never had it fall off while I play. Great value too, it's on par with basses alomst twice the price. I'll definitely be holding onto this for a long time.

WORK OF ART!!!!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-5 5-String Bass:

I bought the schecter C-5 bass about a month ago, after reading several reviews on here as well as other forums and like my title says this bass is none less than a work of art.I love the smoothness of the neck and the quality sound of the EMG-HZ's I also have a spector 4 string that I bought last year and it too has EMG-HZ pickups.I highly reccomend this bass to all styles of playing, it plays well with finger-style or pick and i'm not a thumb popper but it also sounds good for a funk style as well.i give it 2 thumbs up!!!! great job schecter... FOREVER SCHECTER!

By Gonzo-HRwQ3

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-5 5-String Bass:

I purchased this C-5 almost 2 years ago. Yeah it's taken me some time to write a proper review, but, better late than never. This bass is one of the most awsome and durable basses that I have ever owned. We play regularly (2-4 gigs a week) sometimes in the most inconvient of places. Me my AMPEG & My C-5 is all that I really need (tuner & cables excluded). I play hard & soft stuff in 2 bands, I have a second bass & amp, and have only used for one weeks gigs. I have played through a few sets of strings. I haven't even taken it to my guitar tech. Intonation has been dead on (even through a Peterson Strobe Tuner), the only alternation has been lowering the pickups & slight bridge adjustment. My only quam with this bass would be the pick-ups (EMG-Hz), which are decent pickups, just not $1k + bass pickups. This bass plays as well as basses that I have owned at twice the price. I never thought that I would find a bass that made me feel as good about playing as my Guild did, I was wrong. I have played Fenders & Guilds for years, but, now I'm hooked. I suppose one of these days I will replace the stock pickups (EMG-Hz's) with true EMG's, however, a little EQ & a great amp go far.You will NOT go wrong with this bass!!
