Since I've been playing a Schecter 5 string for a while now, I just about peed myself with excitement when I stumbled across this gem at a pawn shop, as I wanted a four string that would give me a similar tone. The strings were dead and the action was horrible, but after doing a bit of research, I decided to go for it and I tell you what, I'm NOT disappointed! After putting on some new strings and adjusting the action, I'm simply blown away at the tone I get out of this bass. I'm ashamed to say it, but my 5 string has been neglected since I bought this. I can't rave enough about it. This thing is breathtaking to look at and even better to play. Buy this bass!
This is one heck of a bass! This thing is rock solid. I won't say it's terribly heavy, but it has a good bit of heft to it, which, along with the fact that it is a neck-thru (that can be strung through the body), with EMG pickups really gives this bass a killer tone and a lot of sustain. You can get a wide array of tones out of it by playing around with the 2 band eq and master blend. I would say you will be able to dial in just about any sound you are looking to get out of it with a little experimentation. My band plays predominantly in drop C and this bass (equipped with medium gauge Blue Steel strings strung thru body) holds the tuning beautifully and plays with no buzz. The neck is very narrow width-wise and plays really fast. The bass is very aesthetically pleasing as well. The finish is beautiful and flawless. Consider all of this together with a LIFETIME WARRANTY from Schecter and a price tag of around $750....you won't find a better deal. This bass plays and sounds better than many that are nearly twice the price. If you are in the market for a new bass you DEFINITELY should at least pick this thing up and give it a try. I promise you will be blown away.
Wow ive played many basses and when i picked up this work of art, I was astonished. The feel and weight is perfect for anyone and the sound stood up to thousand dollar basses. Has a CLEAN sound when slaping and picking. This bass is one Bang for the Buck.
Ive had this bass since this last October. One day i went to Guitar Center around my birthday and was trying out basses. For my birthday i was going to get the Stiletto custom, but once i tried this one out, I was set on it. Getting it was very exciting, because i wanted a bass like this one for a long time. The neck plays well, my only complaint is that the neck on mine has bowed a few times within not too much time, but Guitar Center helped me out. The EMGs have a great sound, they are some of my favorite bass pickups, and with the active EQ, it gets even more versatile. Deffinatly try out this bass!!!
I've been on a bass search for 3 months now. I've been all over the mid west trying different basses hoping to find just the right one. I had a $2000 budget, and in the end wound up with this beauty for WAY less. So many basses shine in one aspect or another, but this bass pushed all my buttons. It looks spectacular, it plays so easily, it has super lows, fantastic mids, and the upper end is fantastic as well. You can either string it through the body, or from the bridge, or even mix it up if you want. The neck is really fast too. The neck thru design gives it tremendous sustain, and adds some nice weight to the instrument as well. Lastly, it's well balanced. What more can I say. It's nearly perfect. I think I'll have this bass for a long time. And at this price, I can add another if I want to.
I was at my local Guitar Center just lookn around when I found this baby! When I was it I said "Oh my God" (in my head ;) and then I plugged it in and just played around with it, it was amazing! You can slap it, you can pick at it, anything I tried it all. I play hard rock, rock, metal etc. but I do know a little jazz and soft rock and it worked perfect for those too. This bass is the best 4 string bass ever! My hand just flew across the fretboard, so smooth. This is all just opinion. I hope this helped! -Asylum
This is an incredible bass. I Compared this to other basses at GC for a while. For the money this bass is a steal. This is the first Schecter I have owned & it rules. The features & craftsmanship are awsome. There are active electronics/ EQ that really gives a great crisp high end & low thump. Dial it in to what you want. The neck thru body design & finish is stunning. Neck feels really good. The hardware adds a great look. Right out of the box the action is precise & right on, no buzz. Comes stringed with D'Addario strings.
I've owned this bass for about 4 yrs now (not the same one listed...a lil older) and i can't imagine playing anything else!!! I've owned many other "high end" basses and nothing compares to the sound i get with my Schecter...The EMG's produce amazing tone and crunchy to smooth lows. The low action makes it easy to play and the body shape gives easy access to ALL the frets...suitable for most playing styles...Stays in tune...what a GREAT Bass...wish i could give it a 6...
Ihave had this bass now for 6 months and went thru all the usaul suspects when looking and playing many different basses but nobody made one close with the looks, pickups and all around quaility that this one had and for under $1000 come on.... you can cover a lot of different music with this bass although i did change strings to halfrounds and once you get used to 2 equalizer it really put out some sweet sound i would recommend this bass to anyone espeacially if you have a $1000 budget as i was working with this is one bad bass Mine is see-thru black and just sharp!!!!!!
First, i want to say that this is the COOLEST looking bass I have ever seen for this price. It is superbly made and just beautiful. But my problem is with the sound. There is no punch in the bass notes. Well there is, but not like a Fender or Musicman. (I know Fenders and Musicmans are for funk, so thats probably why.) The high notes sound superb and have plenty of punch if you turn up the treble, but the bass notes lack punch and sound muddy (like an upright bass). This bass sounds unique; very dark and ominous. Its normal sound is similar to the metallic bass tone in many Tool songs. Its AWESOME but just not what I was looking for. My mistake was ordering this online before I played it. I was just captivated by how it looked. Basically, if you're going for a slap or funk sound, this is not the bass for you. But if this bass IS for you, then you are in for a real treat. It pains me to think of returning it, but I need a more traditional sounding bass.
