Overview

The Schecter Omen-8 8-String Electric Guitar offers an unbelievable range of notes for the guitarist. Tuned to the pitches of F#/B/E/A/D/G/B/E the Omen will allow you to add a whole new dimension to your playing. The basswood body with 6-bolt neck joint provides a solid platform while the rosewood fretboard with 24 extra jumbo frets and the CTM-8 bridge promote sure-fingered playing comfort and super resonance. Schecter Diamond Plus pickups with overwound coils and a ceramic magnet produce an aggressive high output to push your amp over the edge. Made for crunchy rhythms and blistering leads. Perfect for drop tunings.

Tuners
These high quality tuners feature a classic design in a lubricated and sealed housing to protect gears for a lifetime of maintenance free playability. Details include a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning, removable knobs, threaded hex peghead bushing, and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

Rosewood Fingerboard
Rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is richer in fundamental than Maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

Diamond Plus Pickups
Diamond Plus Over wound coils with a Ceramic Magnet give this aggressive high output pickup the push that will send your Amp over the edge. Made for crunchy rhythms and blistering leads. Perfect for drop tunings. This pickup will cut through the mix with ease. Rockin' Single coil tone when Push-Pull knob is pulled up.

Big Bang for the Buck

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen-8 8-String Electric Guitar-OLD:

I got my Omen-8 some time back and deeply appreciated the narrow neck, which seems to be a trademark of Schecter Guitar Research. I have no trouble reaching every string on every fret on the two-octave neck. The active pickups are plenty strong for my playing style. It has a very clean and clear voice even down on the open F#-string. The intonation is perfect as is the action - nice and low with NO fret buzz. I got the walnut satin because it's such a beautiful and warm color. I think anyone who's wary of trying out an 8-string guitar should give this one a try. It's built with the attention to detail usually given to much more expensive instruments. Mine came in flawless condition. It's definitely worth every penny.

Exceeds expectation

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen-8 8-String Electric Guitar-OLD:

I picked this up on sale with trade-in credit and the look and feel of this guitar easily surpasses its price-point. Pickups are definitely adequate for highly distorted sounds and they look real sleek. Went with the Walnut Satin finish and was slightly disappointed that it arrived in more of a deep burgundy, but it still looks great with the blacked out hardware especially compared the typical shiny black finish with chrome hardware option. The extra inch on the neck offers more tuning flexibility without being a full on baritone (nothing wrong with the 28 inch + scale, but that would be add difficulty to the learning curve for me and require a travel case that will accommodate something much larger than a reg scale 6 string. Overall, this was a good buy and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an 8-string for under $500.

All I can say is WOW

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen-8 8-String Electric Guitar-OLD:

This guitar is awesome. The eight string transition is a little weird at first, but is pretty easy to get used to. I will say it takes some finger stretching at times due to the larger frets. The guitar sounds great as it is through my Marshall tube amp and Satchurator pedal. The sustain on it is better than my Ibanez RG550. If I could change one thing, I would give more space in the cutaway to hit those high frets. For this price, I guarantee you will not find a better eight string guitar. OH! and the wood stain finish is gorgeous. So happy I got this one!

OUTSTANDING PRODUCT!

By Andrew Hapka

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen-8 8-String Electric Guitar-OLD:

I had ordered this guitar online and had it shipped to the store in Brookfield. There the employees were really great in getting this guitar up to snuff and ready to play (5 star customer service too by the way). I thought before I tried it out in the store (they wanted to make sure that the guitar was to my liking, again 5 star customer service) that this wasn't going to have that much power and more or less just be a guitar to get you started and getting used to playing an 8 string because of the price, but i was very very wrong. I plugged the guitar into one of the Line 6 amps that they had and I was blown away by the sound. It had almost the same power that I have in my Hellraiser which has active EMG pickups. The fret board is nice and thin so that it kinda has a feel of a 6 string. So basically this guitar can compete with active EMG pickups, has the basic neck of a 6 string, frets and fret board are as they should, and it stays very nicely in tune, 5 stars for a relatively cheap 8 string guitar
