Schecter SE-4 Has My Vote!

I've been an active bass player for about 8-9 years, and I was a bit skeptical when I heard about this particular bass from Schecter. I've heard both good and bad things about the brand in the past and I usually tried staying away from these guitars because of my philosophy, "The more expensive it is, the better it plays." However, my old Fender Jazz (cheap version) went on the fritz and I decided to buy a new bass for as inexpensive as I could. I went to the nearest Guitar Center to try out some basses, and my eyes zoned in on this particular guitar in a see-through black. After playing around with it for 15 minutes, I fell in love. The Schecter Humbuckers combined with the active-EQ give the bass a solid tone that is easily adjustable with my Acoustic BH200 Amp Combo. The action is low right from the box and it seems that I can transition from string to string much easier than I could have with the Fender Jazz. I've only had it a week so far, but I feel that it plays as good as a ErnieBall and it doesn't cost nearly as much. I ordered mine with the Trans-Ocean blue finish and it shines beautifully on the stage, not to mention it is considerably lighter than my old Fender, which allows me to move around more. If you're looking to upgrade from a cheap bass or if money seems tight, this bass is a great choice. It's definitely affordable and you can cause some major damage on stage and during practice! PS - Just make sure you have some extra 9-Volt batteries available; the one that was shipped with the bass was dead on arrival and it takes only a few minutes to change it out.
