Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar (513832)
Availability:

A 7-string specifically designed for today's low-tuned player.

Designed by Jeff Loomis, this extended scale 7-string Schecter electric guitar features an arched ash body with a set-in 26.5" scale maple neck. The longer scale generates the depth of tone required for body-slamming modern crunch. Schecter's UltraAccess joint yields unobstructed access to the 24th fret! The maple fingerboard has black metal cross inlays to complement the guitar's Vampyre Red Satin finish.

Armed with dual EMG Active 707 humbucker pickups, which yield the attack, clarity, and sustain to propel lethal riffs. A Floyd Rose Original locking 7-string tremolo lets you execute the most subtle tremolo or wildest dive-bombing effects and return to perfect tuning every time.

  • Wow!!!!

I had played a couple hellraisers at the local store and wasn't quote sold. GC ordered this for me and it arrived in a few days. Normall I'm not comfortable ordering something like a guitar but they promised if I didn't like it I could return it. Boy... Love at first grasp. Great action. Gigantic frets. Amazing sustain even when bending waaaaay up on the high E string. Plays like a dream, Floyd Rose bridge keeps it in tune. I don't want another guitar :).

  • All around amazing guitar

As reviewed by Robert on 6/11/2009

I've owned 8 guitars and played a few dozen in stores and this is by far the best I've ever played or owned. The combination of the set maple neck and the ash body create such a bright tone. Yes, the neck is slightly thicker than an ibanez wizard neck but for me it feels great. Also, the satin painted neck is great for moving up and down the neck quickly. Simply put, if you play metal and want a 7 string there's a very good chance this is the guitar for you.

  • By far the best guitar Ive played and owned

As reviewed by Christian on 1/17/2011

This guitars is awsome. I special ordered one with Guitar Center in the satin black finish with the floyd rose tremolo. First off the wood chosen by Jeff Loomis was a intelligent choice. The Ash body with the maple neck maple fingerboard provides a great solid bright tone which compliments the 7th string really well giving lots of clarity and a strong almost purcussive sound. The majority of 7 strings out there sound really dark even with Emg's and Maple tops. Its a little heavey because alder and maple are dense heavy tonewoods. The guitar stays in tune even with hard diveboombing. The neck is wide/thin. Not toothpik thin like Ibanez. Beefy thin were its really comfortable and fast but it feels strong. The satin finish on the neck feels really nice and smooth. There is good clearence for the 24th fret but not 100% perfect. The tremolo is a little stiffer then a 6 string due to the extra 7th string. The volume knob and toggle switch feel akward were they are positioned but you will never accidently lower the volume or hit the toggle selecter by mistake. Its a really beautifull guitar. Even though I play mostly Metal and usually use EMG 81, 85 Im not that into the EMG 707's. Ill probably try out the Seymour Duncan Black Outs. I play mostly metal. I played ESP's, Ltd EC-1000, schecter c-1 plus, blackjacks, Gibson standards and Ibanez. For metal this guitar is the best. For good ol rock n roll, R and B, alternative I would stick to the mohogany back maple top with seymour duncan distortion/JB bridge Jazz neck combo.
