An arched mahogany body and 3-piece mahogany set neck with Schecter's Ultra Access heel contour makes the C1 BlackJack ATX FR so comfortable to play, it almost becomes an extension of your body.
The ATX electric guitar features USA Seymour Duncan active Blackout Humbuckers. These are 9-volt pickups designed for aggressive playing styles; especially good for old school metal, garage, punk, thrash, drop tunings, and other heavy rock styles. The Blackouts' balanced inputs capture the tone that players want in an active design, providing more lows, more highs, more tone — period.
The ebony fingerboard features an Active Bolt inlay at the 12th fret, like a warning label for just how much power your axe is packing. Grover tuners and the Floyd Rose 1000 series tremolo bridge allows you to make it talk without knocking it out of tune. Aged mulitply binding is an excellent frame for the high-class aged finish.

If you're looking for an awesome guitar with the greatest active pickups you could ever find out there, you've found it. I bought mine without testing, hoping it'd be as good as the Schecters I had tried on the store and I definitely was not disappointed. The neck feels great, with fast and smooth action, the Floyd Rose works great and the aged finish looks awesome, but the Blackouts are the icing on this cake. They can give you the crunchiest overdriven tones, or the softest clean sound. You can play whatever you want with this guitar and it will sound great. If you want an awesome guitar with the greatest tones you could ever imagine for a reasonable price, go for it and you won't be disappointed.
I set out looking for the following:
moderate-to light mahogany body
ebony fingerboard w/ 25.5" scale
Floyd Rose Trem
Let me tell you that for under $1000, if you really want ebony, Schecter is about your ONLY option. I bought the guitar in Walnut and while its not beautiful, it is kind of rich, with the satin finish, stark ebony fingerboard and "black-chrome" hardware. It definitely is not a "hey look at me" guitar and I like that, I want the sound to get the attention. About the only thing I don't like about it is the "active" symbol on he 12th fret..it just sort of out of place. That's cosmetic though and I can live with that considering the rest of the package. I've made the mistake in that past on choosing looks over feel. Not this time, this guitar feels great.
Well, it's been a whole year and a half since I've bought my C-1 ATX and I think it's time to write a new review, as the initial thrill of a new instrument is gone. Even though the thrill might be gone, the awesomeness of this guitar is not. It still sounds pretty awesome, the hardware is working properly and I haven't had any problems at all since I've bought it.
There are some concerns, though. The matte finish is worn out on the neck and on some spots where I rest my hand while playing. Although it makes the guitar looks old and worn out, some people might find it cool, as it shows that you've been playing with it for a long time. Personally, I liked the finish better when it was new.
After more than a year playing this guitar, I've noticed some serious problems with the binding. It's pretty irregular and sometimes it fades a lot. You'll only notice upon a really close inspection, but that made me feel like there wasn't much attention to the overall aspect of the instrument.
I'm not pretty sure whether I'd say this guitar ages beautifully. It still looks pretty cool, and the matte finish wasn't removed except for the places where I rest my hand, but I'd rather have it looking the way it was when new.
I must mention this is not a light guitar. After hours playing standing, you will feel some pain on your arms and shoulders. But come on, rocking with this guitar is worth it.
As you may have noticed, the only problems I've had with this guitar for 18 months are purely aesthetics. It still sounds great, the overall feel is awesome and I couldn't have made a better decision back then.
