These are my favorite. They clamp on, and stay on. That's it. End of story. You won't have to worry about your investment smashing into the ground. The hardware is top grade, it IS Schaller afterall... The screw for Schaller goes in to most guitars easily, and you don't have to drill anything, or worry about cracking the body. Rickenbacker uses Schallers STOCK, so it's pretty obvious they're doing it right. Anyways, if you want something that simply works perfectly, then get these. The knockoffs have a reputation for failing. Schallers are the true deal.

Here's another concept.
Tell the potential buyer what size screws you use.
If the product description said, "Includes #6 screws", I may have pulled one of mine, saw it wasn't a #6 and looked elsware.
Should be the perfect solution. But...........
When every guitar mounts their buttons with #8 screws, why would you design your product to use #6?
You can't drill out the hole, because it's already too big. And you can't simply use the old screws, because the heads need to fit inside the new buttons.

You even include extra screws. Nice touch except that they are just longer #6 screws.
Here's an idea. Make the buttons to accept either #8 OR #6 and include extra #8's?
Genius!
Or, tell the nice folks in China to make it to fit #8 screws, then you can have the optiion of drilling out the hole a tiny bit.

Instead, the buyer is left to fill in the holes with toothpicks and wood glue, then drill out a smaller hole, or, do as I will, look for a better strap lock.
Should be great, except for the screws.
How do I receive value on something I have to modify?

Comments about Schaller Guitar Strap Locks and Buttons (Pair):

This product was great and easy to install. This makes sure that my guitar will not fall off it's strap. I was told to buy these as they're the best, in some people's opinions, and I've got to agree. The shipping was fast and I got them to my house fast. I would definitely buy again.

Comments about Schaller Guitar Strap Locks and Buttons (Pair):

My headline sums it all up. I have Schallers on all of my electric guitars for one reason: They are the best. They won't come undone unless you are undoing them. They also won't mar your paint around the strap buttons like some of the plastic strap locks. The first thing I do with a new guitar is replace the strap buttons with Schallers.

Comments about Schaller Guitar Strap Locks and Buttons (Pair):

I have used these locks on other guitars. They have always been great. However, when I bought a new set on 8/1/16 for my 88 LP Standard, one of the locks fell apart at a rehearsal and then at a gig. I tried to screw it back together but then it failed completely and I couldn't find all the parts. I called GC and asked for replacement parts (within 90 days or purchase). They said there was a 45 day return policy and that I had no recourse. Even with an obviously defective part. I will shop elsewhere from here on out.

Comments about Schaller Guitar Strap Locks and Buttons (Pair):

Ordered several of these. Put them on a couple of Fender Jazz basses and a Rogue violin bass first. On all these, they went on very easily and seem very secure. The Schaller screws were just a tiny bit larger/longer than the original screws. Pro tip: lube screw with a bit of soap.

I saved my Gibson Les Paul for last, since I had seen comments indicating a mis-match with the screws -- yep. On my LP, the upper bout button was easy. I elected to use re-use the original Gibson screw, since it was a bit longer and larger than the Schaller screws. That worked pretty well, except that because of the shape of the button, the screw ended up going in a bit deeper. No problem, just an anxious moment hoping nothing would go wrong with driving the screw in further. The lower bout button was a whole other problem. That screw was MUCH larger in diameter than the upper one. Rather than plugging the hole in the body with plastic wood or toothpick, I decided to reuse the Gibson screw, but it was so large that it wouldn't fit through the hole in the button. I drilled out the hole in the button with a 11/64" drill bit (don't try this without a decent drill press and a vise, padded with paper towel or some such). Only a small amount of metal was removed, so this didn't appear to weaken the button. Then I discovered the next problem: the screw head was too large to fit into the inside of the button. With the screw head sticking up out of the button, the lock wouldn't fit on it (the plunger in the lock has to go down inside the button in order to lock). I ended up grinding down the head of the screw until it fit. None of this shows, since it's inside the button, and after installing it, it seemed very secure. Once again, the screw went in about 0.2" further than with the original button, so should hold. This is a 2015 Les Paul; it would not be surprising to discover that other LPs have completely different screws/buttons. YMMV. Just be aware of this if you want to install these on a LP.
